What systems can learn from how we buildย with blocks is that we dont keep our same role, roles can change!
I recently completed theย BrickโbyโBrick Facilitator Programme in partnership with @playincluded and so well designed by Dr Gina Gomez ! They have created a meaningful and easy to access facilitator process that offers an opportunity to creation of learning through play intersecting with social emotional skills and is designed to INCLUDE neurodivergent children!
In a Brick Club the methodology encourage 3 core roles: A Builder, an Engineer and Supplierย and this creates the conditions for collaboration to BUILD TOGETHER.
At a systems level, these are roles we all play every day:
Builders on the ground, implementers whoย translate plans and projects into lived experiences with real children, families and communities
Sometimes engineersย who design comment or engage on policies, frameworks and pathways that shape practice; and sometimes we are the busy worker, suppliersย who enable sustainability through resources provision, partnership strengthening and access to support services. All in a day one can be all 3 at any given time. We sent stay in the same role!
When these roles are intentionally held and connected through shared purpose, evidence and the theme of the year: trust... the outcome proven through this Methodlogy is increased participation, inclusion of diversity and system movement. I so appreciated the course contribution by Per Havgaard where playโbased, evidenceโinformed approaches were shown with such ease! Play should be that easy! Thank you
Grateful to colleagues who have joined me on this learning journey @Dipo Mhlongo Kristen Fenton, Megan Lewis and the enthusiastic energy from Imke Barnard and. Lauren Moore who continue to show up with purpose passion.
If youโre interested in this methodology for working in afternoon clubs or schools needing special needs opportunities for play, reach out! Id be happy to share our experience. @domorefoundation

The Zero Hunger Project Coalition is proud to welcome our member โDo More Foundation.โ They are based in South Africa.
The DO MORE FOUNDATION is a backbone organization with a mission to see every young child in South Africa have access to quality Early Childhood Development services to thrive. Founded by RCL FOODS in 2017, they operate as an independently audited, non-profit organization committed to long-term, systemic and sustained change for children aged 0 to five. To achieve this, they catalyze community development through partnerships that prioritize investment in this age group.
Strong ECD outcomes depend on three foundational needs: nutrition, early learning, and caregiver support, all within an enabling environment. Their three national programmes support delivery of these needs and align with South Africaโs National Integrated ECD policy and the international Nurturing Care Framework.
Their national nutrition programme combats childhood malnutrition and stunting by providing nutritious meals and nutrition education in over 30 under-resourced communities across South Africa. Through distribution of DoMore Porridge, setting up ECD centres as Hubs of Nutrition, and sharing nutrition literacy through their parent and caregiver support programme EAT LOVE PLAY TALK, they help young children, their families and communities thrive.
Their strength lies in their ability to connect business, government, civil society, and community organizations to contribute to the ECD ecosystem through collective action. By coordinating efforts, aligning resources, and harnessing community experience, they help build and scale a system that truly works for young children, their families, and South Africa.

It's a pleasure to welcome Benita Mukoni as our newest intern through the South African Monitoring Evaluation Association's Emerging Evaluators Programme๐.
Benita holds a Master of Social Science in Social Development from the University of Cape Town, with research focused on early childhood development and parenting. Her strong academic grounding in education, social exclusion, and policy, alongside her passion for monitoring and evaluation, will be a valuable addition to our work.
We look forward to Benita contributing to evidence-informed practice and learning across the Foundationโs work in early childhood development.
A sincere thank you to South African Monitoring Evaluation Association (SAMEA) for this meaningful partnership and for creating pathways that support young and emerging evaluators to grow, learn, and make an impact๐ค.

A heartfelt thank you to the @domorefoundation for their continued support in strengthening Early Childhood Development in our communities ๐ฑ
This week, we had the privilege of delivering Duplo play boxes to several of our ECD centres:
โข Dinoko โ 2 boxes
โข Tshembekani โ 5 boxes
โข Mabana โ 5 boxes
โข Maranatha โ 5 boxes
These incredible resources are more than just toys, they are powerful learning tools that support the development of both fine and gross motor skills, while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and active play.
Each box is a significant investment, and we are committed to ensuring that they are used with care and purpose to maximise their impact for every young learner.
Thank you once again to the Do More Foundation for walking this journey with us and for helping us create brighter, more playful learning environments for our children!

In places like South Africa, where communities face diverse and complex challenges, solutions designed with the community, not for them, are far more effective.
