↘ Kiedy? 28/01/2026, 18:00   ↘ Gdzie? Pracownia CSW Zamek Ujazdowski

Airbnb blocked by the elevator cover 2025 Airbnb, elevator cover, steel, wood The elevator cover was rented from the Building’s Caretaker. It is used during apartment renovations to protect the elevator interior. The work is made out of two elements (airbnb, elevator cover) with opposite vectors. An elevator cover is an expression of concern for common spaces. Airbnb denies the existence of such spaces by turning an apartment building into a hotel. curated by @zuziamiel part of @fringe_warszawa

This week at Wschód Warsaw! Jan Domicz 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 The Black Box Warsaw September 11-13.09, 2025 Opening: Thursday, September 11, 6-8 pm During the opening, curator Zuzanna Mielczarek (@zuziamiel ) and Jan Domicz (@domicz ) will give a tour through the show. _ 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 is a three-day presentation of two works by Jan Domicz at The Black Box Warsaw. Both pieces are constructed in an almost identical way – through a vertical shift. One (𝘓𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘱 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱, 2015) is ten years old, while the other (𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 (𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘮), 2025) was created just a few months ago. […] Jan Domicz (b. 1990, lives and works in Warsaw) - creates videos, objects and installations. In his works, he uses the narrative potential of a given space and its socio-political implications. He creates systems at the junction of private and common space. Instead of solving problems, these systems create them. Problems create a narrative. The narration gives meaning to space. Selected exhibitions: Towards a Placebo Art, the STOOGE,Berlin; Villa Nada Warsaw (with Wschód Warsaw), 2025; The gate bigger than the fence, MOS, Gorzów, 2024; Plotters I, ECHO Cologne, The Anthropocene, Museum ofArchitecture, Wrocław, 2023; Whismies, NEUE ESSENERKUNSTVEREIN, Essen, 2022. #jandomicz

ᴇɴ The love lock fence bends under the weight of padlock containers, full of airbnb keys. Flyers spill out of the mailboxes, someone is urgently trying to buy an apartment in this block. The trash storage is overflown with the remains of old interiors, and the elevator has once again been ‘wrapped up’. Hastily conducted apartment renovations could cause damage. Artifacts of market speculation intertwine with the daily life of the residents. The residents are advocating for the sale of beer at the kiosk on the ground floor. The cooperative block, built in 1969 as part of the Za Żelazną Bramą Estate, was designed to provide shelter for young couples and single people in 386 small apartments. Today, these apartments meet the criteria for the most profitable investment product in downtown Warsaw.
