Being a diver comes with more responsibilities than we thought 🪸🐚 One of them is about understanding the space we choose to enter.
The ocean was never built for us, and the moment we enter it, we already create some form of disruption, whether through our movements, our sunscreens, our fins, or simply our presence. I think being a responsible diver starts with acknowledging that truth instead of pretending we leave no impact at all 💭
But maybe responsibility is not about being perfect. Maybe it’s about trying to minimize the effect we have wherever we can.
Maintaining good buoyancy. Not touching coral. Keeping a respectful distance from marine life. Remembering that no piece of content is worth stressing or harming the life that already belongs there 🫧
At the end of the day, we are only visitors here. The least we can do is enter with respect and leave with care 🩵
I also learned that the ocean has no expectations of who you should be.
Somehow, "diving culture" can sometimes make it feel like you have to fit a certain image to belong: partying hard, drinking, smoking, performing a lifestyle. But the ocean is vast enough to let people exist differently. Quietly. Softly. Authentically.
And maybe that’s one of the most beautiful things about it 🩵
