Our first Heritage Walk last Sunday saw a spirited group of diverse backgrounds and age. Among the participants, only a handful had ever passed by Jalan Kubor, an often overlooked, quieter side of Kampong Glam. But after stepping inside these historic grounds, many were moved by the deep history in this small plot of land.
We hope to raise awareness through these tours about the historical significance of Jalan Kubor Cemetery and its integral position in Singapore history.
We really appreciate the enthusiasm and the interest shown by everyone who joined us - and also everyone who’s been dropping in our DMs!

The term ‘Peranakan’ is a special category in the Malay language, flexible enough to encompass a myriad of cultural configurations centred around notions of belonging and adaptations across cultures. Discover the stories of various Peranakan communities and identities in Singapore – the Muslim Indian/ Jawi Peranakan and Arab Peranakan; the Serani; the Peranakan Indian (Chitty Melaka); and the less-known categories 'Bugis Peranakan' and 'Jawa Peranakan'.
