Hi, I’m Thea. šŸ‘‹ There are a few new people here, so I figured I could reintroduce myself. I’m an American who first moved to Italy way back in 2003. (yes that’s over 20 years ago!) I was doing a semester abroad in a small town about 1 hour outside of Rome. The town was small enough that few people spoke English, and my Italian language skills improved rapidly out of necessity. I lived just off the main street, where people walked back and forth chatting with others before heading home for dinner. The food market was held smack in the middle of the town square and offered lots of quality fruits, vegetables, and Italian delicacies at absurdly low prices. I WAS IN LOVE! A few years later, I moved to Milan, thanks to a scholarship from Rotary International. Completely different from my lazy little town where the stores closed at midday! But I enjoyed it nevertheless. Along the way, I met and married my incredibly loving and romantic husband, who’s from a stunningly beautiful microscopic village, Tellaro, along the Italian Riviera, not far from the Cinque Terre. We have the most handsome little boy, Lorenzo (I am not partial - lol). All this to say - I absolutely love my life in Italy. āœ…I’m honored that I get to help people like you create the life of THEIR dreams in Italy and on THEIR terms. āŒAnd we help them avoid many of the pitfalls that plague so many expats when they move and buy property abroad. We do that thanks to a combination of online courses and one-on-one consultations with my incredible network of professionals, from immigration attorneys to real estate agents. You can check out my totally free workshop about moving to Italy by commenting ā€œWORKSHOPā€ below or by sending me a DM. I’ll reply with the info. If you have any other comments and/or questions, let me know. I love hearing from you all.

The Italian Digital Nomad Visa is here! (I did a Happy Dance when it came out.šŸ’ƒšŸ¾) But headlines can be deceiving or just incomplete. The basic requirements are as follows (but keep in mind, most US Consulates want you to go above and beyond the minimum): - an income that exceeds 28,000 euros - health insurance to cover medical treatments and hospitalization - proof of accommodation in Italy - at least 6 months of experience as a digital nomad or as a remote worker - Contract(s) or a job offer that shows you’ll be able to maintain yourself in Italy - be considered highly skilled in your field in the form of education and/or experience Are you a high-earning remote worker? And want more assistance figuring this out? COMMENT/DM ā€œNOMADā€ To find out if you qualify for my VIP relocation service! #movetoitaly #digitalnomad #americaninitaly #digitalnomadvisa

You and I have seen those social media posts. People who moved to Italy and had to move back. Carousels about all of the mistakes they’ve made. And now you’re probably concerned, worried, or full-fledged overwhelmed. I get it, relocating to another country involves lots of moving parts. There’s a high learning curve. Which is why I am here to help. As someone who has been living in Italy for over 20 years, my team and I have helped hundreds of people successfully move to Italy. This is how we know that a successful move to Italy starts with a good plan, which you execute at least 6 months (if not a year) out. Here is your master timeline: āœ… 1 Year: Big picture planning, like visa strategy and finances āœ… 6 Months: Secure accommodations, health care, and banking āœ… 1 Month: Final details. Packing up, getting your international driver’s license, and vet visits (if you have a four-legged friend). Ready to take the next step? šŸ—“ļø Book a 1-on-1 planning session. COMMENT ā€œCONSULTā€. Life lately… I’ve made a promise to myself to host more often. I really enjoy cooking, visit local producers to source quality ingredients, and simply enjoying quality time with friends. Here I made fried lamb with the freshest meat purchased from the @milano.mercatodellaterra our local @slowfoodmilano farmers market. I also made pastiera napoletana from scratch. With lard and butter and fresh sheep ricotta from one of my favorite small businesses. And this time I purposefully made it rustic, not concerning myself with perfectly distanced crisscross pattern. Even the bread crumbs came from my local baker and not the supermarket. One of the things Italy has taught me is that ingredients matter. When you consciously choose better ingredients putting together a great tasting meal is one (if not two) steps easier. Then you add a huge dose of love. ā¤ļø All of this happened, in this case, over Easter. But in the spirit of everything in due time, calmly… even sharing this post one week later is perfectly timed. 🄰 The whole point was it was del

This is what a random Thursday night in Milan can and does look like. Eating at @giolina_milano , one of the highest-rated pizzerias in the city. A beautiful retro-chic setting, a light and well-risen dough, great olive oil, and a room full of locals catching up on life. One of the things people don’t realize before moving to Italy is how much food becomes part of your rhythm of life. Not ā€œspecial occasion food.ā€ Just everyday moments like this, that don’t necessarily have to wait for the weekend. When our relocation clients arrive, one of the first things we help them do is build those everyday rhythms — Places that will soon become their favorite cafĆ©, their neighborhood restaurant, the market stall they love. Because moving to Italy isn’t just paperwork. It’s learning how to live in the city you now call home…

So many people talk about moving to Italy, but almost no one talks about MOVING SMART. Like how smooth the process can be when you have an experienced team of professionals guiding every step of your move. Like planning your taxes. (Which hint, hint, should be done before you pack your bags and board a plane to Italy.) The good news is that the Italian government has put in place tax incentives to encourage people to move to and/or return to Italy. Which can be a game changer Comment ā€œGUIDEā€. I’ll send you my complete guide to tax incentives for living in Italy in 2026. #movetoitaly #lifeinitaly #americaninitaly

If you like trying traditional and typical restaurants when you travel (before venturing out to try the more takes) this list of for you. Some of the most delicious traditional ā€œtrattorieā€ and ā€œosterieā€ in Milan. - Trattoria Masuelli San Marco @trattoriadelnuovomacello Actually, a combination of Milanese (Lombard) and Piedmont cuisine. It also played a role in the ā€œslow foodā€ movement. - Trattoria del Nuovo Macello @trattoriadelnuovomacello Located outside what used to be the main meat market in Milan (thus the name). This restaurant gives you all the traditional Milanese vibes you could want, with a more sophisticated/modern plating style. Truly delicious - Al Garghet @algarghet Located at the southern city limits, through a relatively rural area that makes it feel like you are worlds away (in the best way possible). It’s particularly magical during the holidays, but it’s always a solid option for traditional Milanese any time of year. - Antica Trattoria della Pesa @anticatrattoriadellapesa_ . One of the oldest restaurants in the city. Besides the staples, check out their apple tart. - Trattoria Milanese del 1933 @trattoriamilanese1933 . One of the best costolette alla milanese in town. - Osteria del Balabiott @osteriadelbalabiott . Solid Milanese food, and a particularly courteous owner and staff. - Risoelatte @risoelatte . Think 1960’s Italian vintage style meets Milanese home cooking - Osteria Conchetta @osteriaconchetta . I particularly loved their ā€œmodeghiliā€, a traditional Milanese meatball (forget the tomato sauce and think a fried breaded exterior), and of course the ā€œcostoletta.ā€ Plus… (an extra) - Rovello. They recently changed locations, so the new format is slightly more modern in aesthetics, but still delivers when looking for traditional Milanese (and more general Italian) food options.
