Happy New Year from the Dog Point Vineyard team!
We really appreciate your support of Dog Point wines throughout the year and love hearing from all our friends and followers around the world enjoying our wines.
Who knows what 2022 will bring but we are looking forward to a bigger and better harvest for 2022 (fingers crossed!)
Here's to 2022!! Happy New Year.
Five stars across the board from acclaimed New Zealand wine writer Michael Cooper for our next vintage wines. We can't wait to start rolling them out across our export markets later this month, and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Here's what Michael Cooper had to say about them.
2022 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc
The 2022 vintage is a bright, light lemon/green, mouthfilling wine, with punchy, youthful, passionfruit/lime flavours, crispy, dry and lingering. Ripely herbaceous, with excellent intensity. 5 ⭐️
2017 Dog Point Section 94
This ranks among the country’s greatest oak-aged Sauvignon Blancs. Looking for ‘texture’, rather than rich aromatics’, it is a bright, light yellow/green, with a fragrant, complex bouquet. Still unfolding, it is mouth-filling and vigorous, with a powerful surge of ripely herbaceous flavours, crisp, dry and tightly structured. 5 ⭐️
2020 Dog Point Chardonnay
The 2020 vintage is bright, light yellow/green, with a fresh savoury bouquet. Mouth-filling and vibrantly fruity, it has concentrated peachy, citrusy flavours, finely integrated oak, excellent complexity and a dry, crisp finish. 5 ⭐️
2020 Dog Point Pinot Noir
The 2020 vintage is full, bright ruby, with a fragrant, savoury bouquet. Mouth-filling and sweet-fruited, it has generous cherry, plum and spice flavours, gently seasoned with nutty oak, and supple tannins. Already delicious, it is a refined, graceful, very harmonious red. 5 ⭐️
And they're back! A couple of thousand sheep have arrived at Dog Point in recent weeks and are making themselves at home for the winter months. As the vines shut down for their winter slumber, the sheep are brought in to control grass and weed growth and assist in adding organic matter to the soil.
Just one of the many initiatives we carry out as part of our organic regime at Dog Point Vineyard 🌱
Our on-site visitor accommodation, The French Barn on Dog Point, features in @wineenthusiast 's line up of "The Dreamiest Winery Guest Houses to Book Around the World."
Sitting alongside some other incredible guest houses, the author of the article, Kate Dingwall, states "True New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc fans should make a pilgrimage to Marlborough’s Dog Point Vineyard and book a stay at the French Barn," and we couldn't agree more!

"New wines from New Zealand - pure, precise and affordable. From vibrant Sauvignon Blancs to sleek Pinot Noirs, top producers continue to overdeliver."
The headline from MaryAnn Worobiec's latest article in @wine_spectator is a must-read. She goes on to share the reviews of eight quality New Zealand wines, including our own 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, which received the highest score.
Here's what she had to say about our 2025 Sauvignon Blanc:
"Complex and highly detailed, with notes of honeysuckle and lemon oil, plus touches of saline and grilled Meyer lemon. Yuzu, pomelo and citron flavors, along with lemongrass and fresh ginger, linger effortlessly on a sleek, mouthwatering frame." 93 points.

Ever wondered about the significance of the tree on the Dog Point logo?
The Ti Kōuka - commonly known as the cabbage tree - is one of New Zealand’s cultural and ecological treasures. Distinctive and resilient, this iconic native plant is found throughout the Dog Point property and, much like our wines, is a true expression of the land from which it grows.
In recognition of its significance, a stylised representation of the Ti Kōuka proudly forms part of the Dog Point Vineyard brand.
As we celebrate International Sauvignon Blanc today, it only seems fitting to share a recent review of our 2025 Sauvignon Blanc where the wine was awarded a staggering 97 points!
@shantehwale for @winecompanion describes the 2025 vintage as "a wine that catches you off guard" and likens it to "fireworks – the soft, sparkling kind." We'll be pouring ourselves a glass tonight.

Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day!
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a variety packed full of bright aromatics, vivid fruit flavours and a freshness that comes from our unique climate.
At Dog Point, we are fortunate to showcase the remarkable versatility of this humble grape through two distinct expressions of Sauvignon Blanc—our take on a classic dry, aromatic style, and our barrel-fermented Section 94. Both beautifully balanced, textured wines with exceptional ageing potential.
Join in the celebrations and raise a glass in honour of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc today.

Our current release 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Section 94 has received an outstanding score of 96 points, courtesy of prominent Australian wine writer @shantehwale for @winecompanion .
Not only were we thrilled with the high score, but Shanteh also notes in her review that "This is a wine that consistently delivers, while ageing at a glacial rate, almost beyond belief."
Check out the review in full below.
➡️ "Hand harvested, whole-bunch pressed and aged for 18 months in seasoned French oak. This is a wine that consistently delivers, while ageing at a glacial rate, almost beyond belief. At five years, this is showing Meyer lemon, cantaloupe and Alphonse mango skin. Mock orange blossoms, honeysuckle and struck sandstone flint. The palate curls into creamy candlenut and oatmeal, then circles back to its citrus and tropical fruit core. It's languid and slightly oily, persistent and long. A wine for rewiring your brain and taste buds on what great sauvignon can do."
Sauvignon Blanc put New Zealand wine on the global stage, instantly recognisable for its vibrant aromatics, crisp acidity, and lively fruit characters. Celebrated for its strong sense of place, it captures the unique expression of our diverse region - from the sun-soaked valleys to the cooler coastal vineyards of Marlborough.
We’re getting excited to celebrate this fresh, energetic varietal on the 1st of May—International Sauvignon Blanc Day. Grab a bottle and raise a glass to one of our favourite wines, Sauvignon Blanc.
