Emilee Durbin entered Sacramento’s music scene just after the COVID-19 pandemic. While others were adjusting back to their old lives, for her, a new one had just begun. “Everyone was tethering together and really supporting each other on those shows,” Durbin said. “It’s cool because there’s different cliques of people that hang out in different genres, but you’ll see people kind of jump between these circles, which ties everyone together.” The sense of community found at open-mic nights and downtown shows helped this new artist’s passion reach new heights. And just like that, dogpatch was formed. Fresh off her debut album, “LOVECOLLECTOR”, and already starting her next, Durbin sat down with Hivemind to talk about finding community through music, appreciating ‘small magic’ and the life of a local indie artist.
