This trail is one of the most popular trails in Davis County for good reason! 📍Adams Canyon Layton (25 min from SLC) 3.6 miles RT 1,450 ft elevation gain Rated: Hard Pick up your dogs 💩 and carry it out! This is a leashed trail (we were the only ones with a leashed dog so keep that in mind!) This is a popular trail so definitely try to hit it early in the morning. We started about 30 min before sunrise. Even though it’s shaded a lot of the way, it still gets hot! There are switchbacks at the beginning of trail and the sand can become very hot, especially in the summer! Make sure your dogs paws are protected! This video does not do this trail justice. Here are some clips of the hike so you know what to expect! This trail was absolutely stunning! Steep in some parts but it was really cool hiking along the ridgeline at the top. 📍Crimson Trail Loop Logan Canyon 4.6 miles RT Elevation gain: 1,300 ft Rated: Hard Dog friendly 🐶 Dogs must be on leash! Pick up after your dog and carry it out 💩 We hiked this after hiking to the wind caves. There are two different trailheads. One is located across from the wind caves and one located a mile down the road. We started at the Spring Hollow Campground (the trailhead down the road) and hiked the loop clockwise. It seemed like more people were hiking it counter clockwise but I personally would rather go up the steep parts vs down them due to my knees 😬 This isn’t an easy trail! Someone on the trail told us they would never take their dog on this trail. This was Oreo’s second trail of the day. You know you’re dog and what they are capable of. If you’re dog can’t handle hard hikes, don’t take them on this one! Bring a lot of water and start early! We started around 8 and I wouldn’t do it any later ESPECIALLY in the summer because of how hot it got! We took a few wrong turns and ended up hiking about 5.35 miles with a 1500 ft elevation gain. Not a lot of service so make sure you have the trail downloaded. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a more challenging trail. 🚧 🦺 They are doing construction up Logan Canyon so be prepared to wait and add ten minutes to your drive to be safe.
