Starting in April, when DPA President Erica L. Taylor, shared her letter on the current landscape of our industry to the community, we’ve continued building momentum around our advocacy efforts.
From coalition-building to launching the Political Advocacy Subcommittee, we remain deeply committed to supporting nonfiction producers at every level. Advocacy is not a moment, it’s an ongoing effort rooted in collective power and care.
Here’s a recap of what we’ve done so far and what’s to come ⭐
In this video, ERL Librarian Sarah Rachael Wainio shares what the library is all about and where you can find us next - including at Tribeca, DC/DOX, and Bentonville Film Festival! 🎉
We’re incredibly grateful to all the organizations who’ve endorsed this work, and especially to the amazing volunteers and vetting committee members who brought this vision to life. We couldn’t have done it without you.

SURVEY LINK IN BIO ✏️ The Coalition of Documentary Workers is a volunteer organization formed through the DPA’s Union Research Committee in collaboration with a number of other progressive film organizations that brings together documentary workers with diverse perspectives committed to advancing a safer, more sustainable, and pro-worker industry, especially in these tumultuous times.
One of the CDW's missions this year is to find affordable & sustainable healthcare solutions for documentary workers. To support this work, we have created a survey for Health Insurance from Documentary & Nonfiction Workers.
The data from this survey will help us understand the current state of coverage for documentary workers, their needs and wants regarding coverage, and key demographic and financial factors that will influence future options.
Responses are optional and kept confidential. No email addresses are collected, and only combined, de-identified results will be shared publicly.
