Calling all spinners and marine industry pros and enthusiasts!
Quantum Marine Stabilizers’ 2026 Quantum Spin‑A‑Thon returns on March 21 (that's next week). This exciting event, hosted at Quantum’s Fort Lauderdale headquarters, serves as a dynamic fundraising initiative and a great networking opportunity, bringing together shipyards, crew, suppliers, and supporters. Keeps you in shape too!
This year’s Spin‑A‑Thon focuses on addressing critical workforce shortages in the maritime industry. According to estimates, the sector faces a growing talent gap, with retirement-eligible staff expected to rise from 24 percent in 2024 to 43 percent by 2029. Skills shortages are already causing project delays of up to 30 percent, underscoring the urgent need for recruitment and training programs. (I have not checked this information, but it does seem to echo what I have heard all around the industry.)
This year's Spin‑A‑Thon aims to help tackle these challenges by raising funds for education, training scholarships, and employer-connected pathways, with the non-profit of choice, Captain Sandy’s Charities (as in Captain Sandy Yawn).
Participants will have the opportunity to spin for up to six hours, and teams will compete on generating the highest energy output. Sponsorships start at $2,500, with individual rider spots and donation opportunities also available.
