Chicago Steel - out July 19th! I recorded an album of instrumental steel back in March with some of the finest players I know. Mostly jazz tunes with a few classic steel tunes. Looking forward to getting this out in the world.

Apparently a lot of folks want to get fired from their gigs. Here’s another helpful lick just in time for the weekend. This lick is another pattern based idea using chords a major third apart. Here’s a lick you can play over the turnaround of a song. I’m essentially inserting a 1-6-2-5 progression, and using tritone substitutions on every chord except the 1. You can hear my band intuitively follow me on these changes, but it sounds even more out when they don’t, and raises your chances of getting fired.

I am thrilled to announce that we are having our EP release show at Martyrs’ on Thursday, June 11th! This is the bands first major record - it has been over a year in the making, and I am so excited to share this music with everyone. Local Chicago artists Doc Brown and Lawrence Tome will play sets and also join the handshakes for our set. Both Doc and Lawrence make appearances on the record.
