Gemma, a Junior on the DNHS Girls Lacrosse team has been a major spark during the second half of the season, helping lead the team’s momentum with her aggressive play and efficient scoring. Currently holding the highest shooting percentage on the team, Gemma has consistently made the most of her opportunities and continues to be one of the program’s most reliable offensive threats. Her ability to stay composed under pressure, make smart decisions, and compete at a high level has made her a key piece of the Nighthawks’ success this season. Gemma’s work ethic and determination continue to elevate both her game and the team around her.
Lucas is a Sophomore on the Badminton team. Lucas has been an amazing contributor to the team this week on and off the court. Lucas has been instrumental in key victories throughout the team playoffs. His energy off the court helps bring the team together and aids in the team's competitive spirit. We wish him luck as he is among the group of individuals representing Del Norte in CIF individual finals this week. Lucas is an exchange student from Germany and we are honored to have him as part of the team.

Athlete of the Week Apr 27 - May 2 -
Spotlights on you! Big cheers for Datis Farajollahi, Alex Uhi and Sophia Brunsilius, our Athletes of the Week! You make us proud! 🎉
Datis and Alex are Juniors on the DNHS Boys Tennis team and have been serving it up all season on the court. Recently Datis and Alex won all 3 matches defeating Scripps Ranch in the quarter finals of the Open Division playoffs. They ended their season with an overall doubles record of 24-8. Both Datis and Alex are extremely committed and amazing teammates. We are so proud of them and look forward to another great season next year.
Sophia is a Junior on the DNHS Gymnastics team and is a very talented athlete who has improved both her difficulty and execution of her routines throughout this season. Last week she flipped her tsukahara vault for the first time at a high school competition. She receives consistent and excellent execution scores and is a top contributor to our team. Her work ethic and commitment to the sport and team are very much appreciated and we are so proud of her.

Athlete of the Week Apr 20 - Apr 25 -
Spotlights on you! Big cheers for Lainey Llamas and Aiden Sun, our Athletes of the Week! You make us proud! 🎉
Lainey has been on an absolute tear at the plate, putting together one of the most dominant offensive stretches of the season. Over the past week, Lainey posted an outstanding .563 batting average, going 9-for-16 with 7 home runs, 1 double, and 10 RBIs. She also recorded an incredible 1.938 slugging percentage, highlighting her elite power and ability to do serious damage every time she steps into the box. Her production has been a major catalyst for the team, consistently delivering in big moments and shifting momentum with one swing. Lainey’s presence in the lineup forces opponents to adjust, and she continues to rise to the challenge. Her focus, confidence, and relentless approach at the plate are translating into high-level results, and this past week was a perfect reflection of her impact.
Aiden had an incredible week in baseball as he led the Nighthawks to a 3-game sweep of Rancho Bernardo. Aiden was 6-10 with a .600 batting average, 3 runs, 3 RBI’s and 2 Home Runs including the game winning “walk-off” homerun in game 3. Aiden’s performance not only helped DNHS sweep RBHS; it also put DNHS in a tie for 1st place in League. Aiden’s work ethic both on and off the field is like no other and he is a force to be reckoned with. Aiden is a great teammate and ultimate competitor. We are very proud of Aiden and all his accomplishments.

Athlete of the Week Apr 13 - Apr 18 -
Spotlights on you! Big cheers for Julia Goldman and Wyatt Stratton, our Athletes of the Week! You make us proud! 🎉
Julia, a Freshman on the Varsity Beach Volleyball team, has consistently played in our top pairing without losing a match. Not only is she a great athlete by working hard, showing up on time, and performing, she is also a great student with a GPA of 4.0. Any coach would be lucky to have her and we look forward to three more years and more great accomplishments.
Wyatt has been on a roll from the start of the season. He not only specializes in one or two events such his 200 IM and 100 Backstroke, he is well versatile in any strokes. During our Varsity tournament over at Granite Hills he placed top 3 in his non-dominant stroke. Not only is he a great athlete, but shows up with positive energy and cheers on all levels of the swim team.

Spotlights on you! Big cheers for Ruta Sirdeshmukh and Jake Skopec, our Athletes of the Week! You make us proud! 🎉
Ruta is an incredible asset to the Badminton Team. Especially in the last two weeks. As a team captain she has helped lead the team to a record of 6-0. With her mixed doubles partner Ethan Quan, she won the Sue Minnock Tournament for mixed doubles which is a top tournament in San Diego against the top players in the county. She is a leader on and off the court and we are so proud of Ruta!
Jake, a Senior on the Boys Lacrosse team, is the definition of an all-around player. Jake recently led the Nighthawks to a huge victory over St. Augustine with 3 goals, 2 assists and 6 ground balls. His work ethic, commitment, and unselfish team play has been a big part of our team's success for 4 years. We are a better team because of Jake and are proud of him and how he represents our program and Del Norte.
