Maka is one of the founders of DnBabez, a platform and female DJ collective dedicated to pushing women to the front of the rave and creating greater visibility for women in drum and bass and 140. She is known for high energy, attitude led selections that move between “bad b dnb” (her words!) and 140 - always delivered with glorious sassiness and serious precision.
Her guest mix she did for us was how we discovered her sound and we are excited to see her perform on our stage. Through DnBabez she and their team continue to highlight the lack of women and local community DJs/producers on lineups and actively contribute to meaningful change within the scene, inspiring wider awareness and conversation.

A true legend of the south coast, Dnbabez presents Sammy C’s International Women’s Day Guest Mix 😈
Inspired by the early rave sounds of the 90s, Sammy C fell in love with drum & bass after hearing On a Ragga Tip back in 1992. After decades in the scene, from travelling the UK for legendary raves to performing as part of an all-female fire dancing crew , the music has always been at the centre of her life.
Sammy only began her DJ journey in 2024 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, deciding life was too short not to follow the dream she’d had since the vinyl days.
Inspired by the sounds of so many incredible women shaping and pioneering drum & bass before her (like @djrapmusic and @dazeeruffneck 🩵) Sammy has risen through the ranks at a seriously impressive speed. She’s already supported names like @andyc_ramagram , @hybridmindsdnb and @wilkinsonuk bringing a sound shaped by years of rave culture, hip hop, breakbeat, and dub reggae🔥
As you can tell, this mix is some serious fire 🔥

Dnbabez started as an idea being yapped about at 4am in Boomtown. Built from a shared love of drum & bass and a friendship formed through the scene, it was created to champion the DnB community and root for the incredible women shaping it.
