Thank you to everyone who came out to support the art tour in Corrales last weekend. It was a great time, regardless of the heavy rain, lightning, and hail storms that attacked us on Sunday.
Here’s a pic of something I finished just in time for the tour, only for it to immediately find a new home to a local collector.

Last weekend you may have wandered into my studio, looked at some paintings, maybe said something kind. Thank you. For stopping. For looking. For the conversation, if we had one, or for the comfortable quiet, if we didn’t. For driving the cottonwood roads on a spring afternoon when you had other options.
I’ve been painting long enough to know that attention is a real thing — not a given, not a courtesy, but something people genuinely have a limited supply of and choose to spend. I don’t take it lightly when any of it lands on the work.
The Studio Tour always reminds me that making work in a room by yourself — which is most of the job, and which I’ve mostly made my peace with — is only half of it. The other half is this: paintings meeting people. People meeting each other. A loose, unhurried kind of community forming in the space between the art on the walls and the people standing in front of it.
That’s worth celebrating. I think you’d agree, or you wouldn’t have come.

Atomic Loop - Start to Finish
One of the real highlights of my year was being part of the 57th Annual @mountainoysterclubartshow . I had the chance to meet an incredibly talented group of contemporary Western artists, see a ton of inspiring work—both at the show and in galleries around Tucson—and connect with so many generous, thoughtful people. Huge thanks to the flawless team at the Mountain Oyster Club, and to the collector who took home my painting Atomic Loop. I’m deeply grateful for the experience.

A portrait of my mother lost in her thoughts. We spent a slow morning sitting on the porch of the family cottage on Coventry Lake in CT, reminiscing about all the time we’ve spent in this particular spot - the generations of family, starting with her parents, that have spent so much time here. It’s a magical place.
When my mother gets lost in her memories, she calls it “the way back machine.”

It’s been genuinely inspiring to welcome students into my studio each week to draw from life. In a moment when so much “artmaking” happens on screens, there’s something deeply meaningful about returning to a practice that artists have relied on for centuries—working from a live model, observing carefully, and creating with our own hands. The energy in the room, the focus, and the shared appreciation for this timeless craft have made these sessions a highlight of my year.
We have one more class before the holiday break, and then we’ll jump back in with a new workshop in the new year. I’m already looking forward to it.
