For 25 years, weâve chosen to commemorate our patron saint, St. Jean Baptist De La Salle, with a day of service. On Founderâs Day, last Friday, all students, faculty, and staff spent the morning doing service at 9 different sites across the city. Furniture was assembled, blackberry was cleared, fruit trees were fed and pruned, supplies were organizedâŚKnights made a difference! An awesome on-campus barbecue under sunny skies and an early release rounded out a great day. It feels good to do St. De La Salle proud!

Lots of special things are taking place here this week for Founderâs Week, in which we honor our patron saint, Saint John Baptist de La Salle. At Mass on Tuesday, thunderous applause took place when James Broadous II, Vice Principal for Student Life & Head Menâs Basketball Coach, was awarded the Outrageously Bold Distinguished Lasallian Educator of the Year Award. Congratulations, Mr. Broadous!
Chosen by an anonymous vote of all his peers, Mr. Broadous has impacted approximately two-thirds of our Knight Nation graduates over the course of his 14 years here. As retired Principal Tim Joy shared, âThere are few as astute and committed to St. La Salleâs principle: âKnow your students individually, and be able to understand themâ as Mr. Broadous. At the presentation, his positive influence was beautifully summarized by Senior Josh H., âThough he may not be perfect, I one day aspire to be half the man that he is, and eventually raise my kids to the standards he held me to. Thank you, Coach.â

A very special element of junior year at Knight Nation is the Akwantu retreat, a two-night journey of connection and discovery, held this year at beautiful Eagle Fern Camp.
For the 43 members of the Class of 2027, plus 6 senior leaders and 9 staff chaperones, Akwantu 2026 was awesome! Lots of sharing and reflections, teamwork and bonding, excellent food cooked by our very own Ms. McDevitt, fun outdoor time, plus love and respect for each other. Thank you to all who made it such a smooth and hope-inducing experience, especially to the LYM superstar, Ms. Frangipani!
