I came across this wonderful @dklearning hardback at #fcbg26 Then this week at our online Book Chat @herts.cbg I was able to promote it to members. It is a fascinating guide to morphology and how words in the English language are constructed. With lots of information on Latin and Greek word roots, plus a guide to prefixes and suffixes, the layout is very clear and doesn’t overwhelm the reader. Massive congratulations to talented author Gill Budgell and illustrator Priyal Mote for this gorgeous publication. I am positive it will support youngsters with their spelling, reading and writing skills. Ideal to refer to or to read in a few sittings, I am sure this book could spark a youngster’s interest in the English language. Aimed at 7-11-year-olds but suitable for older readers also. I was impressed to see a related Activities book and Morpheme-a-Day calendar in this series. Enjoy learning about the history of words either at home or in the classroom. Thanks to @dklearning for my beautiful review copy. #morphology #englishlanguagelearning #keystage2

🎨 Collab Project Showcase with DK Learning 🎨 Together with DK Learning and our sister agency CWLA, we wrote, designed, and illustrated this read-aloud series celebrating world folklore. Featuring 11 classic tales from around the world, the World Folklore books were carefully designed to engage a modern audience while retaining the integrity of the original stories. Every effort was made to ensure authentic voices were heard in the telling of these tales, which meant sourcing authors, illustrators, and sensitivity readers who represent the unique cultures of the stories being shared. The result was a diverse range of stunningly illustrated books, each one as distinctive and unique as the next. Learn more about this project at our link in bio! . . . . #collaborateagency #publishing #dk #learning #design #illustration #development #packager

Educators have raised concerns about students’ growing disconnection from the natural world as academic pressures and screen-based learning increases. Coined by Richard Louv as “nature-deficit disorder,” this loss of direct contact with nature has meaningful implications for students’ health, learning, and long-term environmental stewardship. Integrating nature writing and outdoor experiences into the classroom offers a powerful way to reconnect students to their local environments while cultivating curiosity, well-being, and a sense of responsibility for the world they inhabit. The Teaching Nature guides allow teachers in multiple subject areas to integrate whole texts or excerpts into their lesson plans. Conservation isn’t just a science issue: all classes should address the value of nature and the environment. 🔗 Download the free guides for elementary, middle, and high school through the links in the “Teacher’s Guide” highlight at the top of our page. #EarthDay #Nature

Educating our students about climate change can literally change the future.  While science class is a natural place to address the realities of climate change, social science and literature classes provide the opportunity for students to investigate the historical, social, and ethical implications of a world where temperatures and waters are rising.  Integrating fiction, poetry, and nonfiction with climate change themes can help students develop empathy, hope, and optimism. While data and science are essential to the climate change fight, these less tangible themes are vital to making real change. The titles in this collection serve as a gateway for teachers and students to begin grappling with these ideas. 🔗 Download the free teaching climate change guides for elementary, middle, and high school through the links in the “Teacher’s Guide” highlight at the top of our page. #EarthDay #ClimateChange
