I saw someone do this “DJ” thing when I was 11 years old, started my journey at 12 and never looked back. I had to prove not only to myself, but to my parents, that this was a legit career, even though there was no one to reference. I remember selling mix tapes at lunch just to make enough money to buy more records. I spent every dollar I could on music and equipment because it was fueling me to live life with a passion. There was no social media and no reason to do this for attention. The DJ was usually out of sight and at times out of mind. I would grind it out for the simple fact that I loved playing music and creating moments on a dance floor for you to let go and live in the moment.
