PUBLIC DISPLAY THIS FRIDAY 8.08 Join us for this special 808 edition of PUBLIC DISPLAY as we welcome the return of Miami legend @dannydaze with local support from: @le_schlippy @solace_dj @aucontrairetrax Steeped in Miami’s B-boy culture, it was classic electro & Miami bass that conceived Danny Daze’s love for the experimental Dutch electro & Detroit Techno scenes of the 90’s. Labels like Schematic in Miami, Interdimensional Transmissions from Detroit & Viewlexx out of The Hague set the foundation for Daze. Daze’s risk-taking & punk approach is at the core of everything he does and it’s a big part of the ethos of his current label, Omnidisc. “We’re not searching for chart topping hits. We’re more interested in curating a catalog of music you’ll remember when you walk out the door. We seek out tracks that are as raw as possible & welcome imperfections. We love the charm of an unpolished record”, says Daze. It’s also this freeform & experimental approach together with an element of surprise that sets him apart from the pack as both a DJ & Producer. As a DJ, he prefers to express his versatility across long sets. He is known to cut and weave from Electro to Techno into Italo Disco, into a record by Yazoo deliberately intended to provoke a reaction. PUBLIC DISPLAY THIS FRIDAY 7•11•25 @hueymnemonic Techno is often misconstrued, misquoted, and mishandled by outsiders, so for Detroit-based producer and DJ, Huey Mnemonic, protecting its legacy has become a pursuit. Growing up in Flint, Michigan, he inherited his education on funk, techno, house, and more from his parents and grandparents, sparking his obsession with sound as a youth. Channeling Sci-fi, technology, and the Black American experience into his work, his mission is to both preserve and add to the rich lineage of Detroit’s sonic culture. @le_schlippy is a music fiend with a passion for discovering “music with soul”. Whether crate digging physical or digital media, they are constantly searching for the musical elements that evoke something deeper within them, striving to share these sounds with others. Le Schlippy hosts a weekly show on WCSB Cleveland 89.3 FM called “Over The Hump”. The show airs 11 PM to 12 AM every Wednesday and has a central focus on the Cleveland underground dance community. @brennermusik brenner is the last name of Nick Brenner, a producer and DJ from Columbus, OH. Co-Founder of Headcleaner. Although considerable time has been spent making tracks that will never see the day, brenner is no stranger to releasing on multiple labels across the midwest. Label, Sub-Divizion, PITS (Detroit), Junted and a slew of self-released tunes are available in the ether. Through percussion-oriented broken beat music and jackin’ house and techno, the styles portrayed in his productions and sets are unique and danceable. brenner holds true to his mid-west roots while extrapolating on their finer elements. @solace_dj is a dj, producer,and promoter for TruSelf Productions in Cleveland, Ohio. She first got her paws on the turntables in 2008, She has evolved and refined her skills as a breakbeat freak throughout the years- bringing her unique sound to energetic house parties, underground raves and Vibrant nightclubs throughout the midwest and east coast. Im absolutely giddy to be shuffling @djfarsight over to the midwest for Public Display #2 - i could say a lot about his stats & affiliations , & how his wildly creative take on breaks / psychedelic sound design / techno tick all of the boxes for me , but ill just say this : i discovered 2 of my recent favorite unreleased tracks from Farsight as they were being played by : 1 - Hessle Audio at club night club & 2 - Ben UFO in his rinse mix with Hassan Abou Alam. Periodically I forget to check for his new tracks & then im reminded by seeing him do an all original set for mixmag or resident advisor, etc etc , you name it. Dude is out here. And doing it with so much grace. Massive respect & honored to have him come play at @crobar1921 with us in May. Support from the Gawd/Legend @d_stouty_x , PerfBae @joeysardelle , and newcomer @le_schlippy fresh off the one year anniversary of their radio residency at WCSB . This past Friday was an absolutely darling vibe & im so so excited to keep bringing my friends together to see where this little communal building exercise takes us 🟠🟠🟠 See you May 9th 🌱
