BIG NEWS!! The third radio play in the series Lights Audio Action! has just been released to the public!!
This time, it's called City of the Blues. Written by Peter Mayer, This is a gritty story set in St. Louis circa 1958 about crooked politicians, the mob, and other movers and shakers from both sides of the law...and a former boxer turned club owner caught between it all. It kinda feels like LA Confidential, but in STL! As always, I recorded the table read and then did all of the editing, mixing, and production of backgrounds and foley efx for COTB!! And I voiced a couple of small parts in the story, as well!
This play is my personal favorite of the series, by far. The story, the actors...and the music is absolutely AMAZING, courtesy of Brian Owens, and featuring guitar by the legendary Marquise Knox, among many others! We went all out on this one! It can be found on Spotify, Apple, Google, the St. Louis Public Radio website at stlpr.com, and through the National Directory of NPR, via the link below. You can also find the first two radio plays in the series! Here is a picture of the table read that was recorded for COTB back in January of this year...Enjoy!
I’m happy to announce that the second episode of Lights Audio Action will premiere tomorrow, Wednesday, October 5th! It’s called The Gashouse Gang, a true story about the 1934 St. Louis Cardinals, a ragtag baseball team that overcomes many challenges, including the Great Depression, to eventually win the World Series against the Detroit Tigers. This is a wonderful story about the glory of baseball, reminding all of us to always persevere, no matter how hard it gets.
Lights Audio Action is a uniquely wonderful series of radio plays brought to you by St. Louis Public Radio. In the spirit of pre-TV radio programs, these plays are driven by a strong narrative voice, compelling dialogue, and lots of sound effects to create a visual experience for the listener. I recorded the table read, and did all of the editing and sound effects for this episode, along with all of the episodes of this series. To get an idea of how this play will sound, you can go to , select Shows from the menu, and then look for this logo to access Lights Audio Action to hear the first episode of this series, a murder mystery called Don’t Go There.
The Gashouse Gang will premiere tomorrow, October 5th on 90.7 St. Louis Public Radio (KWMU) just before the first pitch of the last regular season game between the Cardinals and Pirates, around 3:00 PM. This radio play is split into two sections, with a total run time of about 2 hours and 20 minutes. For your convenience, this program will be available to stream via Google, Apple, and Spotify shortly after the premiere.
