Good news: the exhibition ‘Hip Hop Is’ is extended until 16 August 2026.
To mark the extension, two special hip hop events take place in the museum in May:
🎤 15 May: Rapper Duvel presents his new album ‘Rariteitenkabinet’ with a live performance in collaboration with Homebase
💥 16 May: The World Breaking Classic Europe Qualifier, an international breaking battle featuring top crews from across Europe

Vanaf aanstaande zondag 18 januari zullen Dennis Kok en ik nagenoeg elke zondag een verdiepende uitleg geven over de geschiedenis van Hip Hop in Groningen Stad en Ommeland en een uitstap naar het hele Noorden en de verbondenheid onderling.
Zondag 18 januari staat in het teken van drie oldskool, huidige en toekomstige helden Van de Groninger Hip Hop scene: Mick La Rock Aileen Middel , Annemiek Rosaria en Katlego.
Deze zondag vanaf 13.00 tot 15.00 elk heel uur. "Vrauluu in de Groninger Hip Hop geschiedenis". Tot 10 mei aanstaande is de tentoonstelling "Hip Hop Is" te zien in het Groninger Museum met o.a. geweldige werken van Hamilton Chango Harris en meer dan 800 Vinyl platenhoezen van Nederlandse rapgroepen samengesteld door Dutch Hip Hop Archive.

Last Friday was the official opening of the exhibition HIP HOP IS @groningermuseumofficial The exhibition showcases how hip-hop culture has influenced the visual arts of the past forty years. It was an energetic evening, reuniting old acquaintances and good friends, creators and consumers. Big up to my friends @noshitsherlockpodcast and @djlowpro who, as pushers and advisors, invested a great deal of time and energy in this project and will be offering tours starting in January. It was a big surprise to see a piece of my own past adorning the wall: a BumRush lightbox that hung for years on the facade of BumRush The Building (Boterdiep, Groningen), a photo of me and Quik at Splash Festival, Chemnitz, Germany (2004?), and a a flyer I designed for a rap contest I organized with Scientific in 1996. (Youthcentre De Bijenkorf, Enschede). The entire exhibition is a feast of recognition for many Hip Hop heads from the very beginning and later generations. Highly recommended.
