May was a lot busier than anticipated but all in good stride. 1) @suzzettedawes and the @browardartguild have their poetry night tomorrow May 8th from 5:30-8:30. I will read one of my poems. 2) My piece got accepted @gasperartscenter for "Connected Journeys" and opening night is on the 15th of May. The show runs until June 5th. 3) The Exhibition 'Spring Fling' will run until May 22nd at the @browardartguild 4) In collaboration with "Art Around Town", the Fort Lauderdale Reading Center attached to Art Serve, I have a second solo exhibition - "One and the Same: Life Versus Death and Transformation",(with new additions to the collection) and will be up from May 11 - June 30. 5) @9musesartcenter collaboration for the workshops: "Textile Expressions as 2D-Art" will run for 3 more classes until we have a final show with all the students work. 6) @bluefieldexhibits still has their online show running and I can post the link in my bio. Those are the major announcements but of course anything can be added to the itinerary. Cheers.

I am grateful that in the span of 4 months, I have been given the opportunity to have 2 solo exhibitions. This is all thanks to the program "Art Around Town", from the @browardartguild : making sure art is accessible in public spaces. Continually grateful for the support from my family and loved ones. Participants are invited to engage with materials in an open, process-based environment, allowing each piece to develop in its own direction. _________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract or storytelling — your choice. There’s no single outcome in this workshop. Some pieces become abstract. Some tell stories. Some shift somewhere in between. Work created during this series will be included in a final exhibition at 9MusesArtCenter. Thank you @jo_vucajnk for the canvases. This is awesome because I like repurposing old material. Don't even care if the canvas is ripped, I will take it because I incorporate those elements into my work. After the sanding (folks wear a mask - do as I say, not what I do), I will prime the canvas for use. A great collaboration with @loriarbelart Stitch Jam — come play with us 🧵 No skill required, no project to finish, no pressure to make anything "good." Just bring yourself and come hang out with thread, yarn, fabric, scraps, and whatever materials are lying around. We'll be stitching, fiddling, talking, and seeing what happens when hands get busy. Total beginners welcome. Curious seekers welcome. People who haven't held a needle since middle school especially welcomed. Come for ten minutes, come for the whole thing. Tomorrow, Friday 15th of May from 7 PM, the opening for the exhibition will take place at the @gasperartscenter on Dania Beach. Looking forward to meeting other artists and meeting new people.

Just reflecting on the importance of taking steps as an artist with having a series, versus the older version of myself who was creating a lot but for some reason seemed like I had nothing to show for it. I have to give grace because of the era, the time period and the mindset I had. Those versions helped me to get to where I am today and I give gratitude for all those versions of me. #musings #meettheartist #artjourney
