Through all the chaos and busyness of life… always stop to admire and appreciate where you came from and where you are now. Last night I surprised my ladies with dinner and a concert to celebrate our story and to thank them for helping me get to where I am today.
It’s been 31 years of the 4 of us navigating through our immigrant story. 31 years of lessons and triumphs.
Through it all, music has always connected us, and one of our core artists has always been @manaoficial . They have always brought us joy, made us sing at the top of our lungs and just made us happy. I can still remember getting their CDs through the mail via Columbia House (using @la_reina_de_quito ‘s account 😆) and playing them non stop growing up in Newark.
Their music has always been part of our gatherings, weddings, etc. and last night was our first time seeing them as a family. It was an amazing experience with several poignant moments that reminded me that even though our surroundings are out of control right now.. todo pasa / this too shall pass.
I hope you all take the time to MAKE TIME for those near and dear to you, because as we already know… nothing lasts forever.
Thank you mom Johanna and Nadyme for taking the biggest of risks 32 years ago, you put it all on the line for me. I know none of my successes would be possible without the sacrifices the 3 of you made throughout my childhood and beyond. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully repay you for all that you’ve done… but I will most certainly try my hardest. Ilusm ❤️
