A condition that affects 190 million women worldwide.
You know how much the NIH spends per patient per year on endometriosis research?
Two dollars.

Meanwhile we have 813 billionaires in this country sitting on $6.1 trillion combined
and we’re debating whether to cut food stamps to make the budget work.
Interesting math.
PCOS. Fibroids. Vulvodynia.
Adenomyosis.
Conditions affecting hundreds of millions of women.
Chronically underfunded. Barely studied.
The speculum used in your gynecologist’s office was designed in 1845.
That means it is 180 years old (!!).
We have not meaningfully redesigned it since.
We have not meaningfully redesigned a tool that is used countless times every single day to open one of the most delicate parts of the human body. A woman’s vagina.
Yet- We went to the moon.
But We did not redesign the speculum.

So yes. Fund space exploration.
Fund all of it.
But maybe also fund the bodies of the people who produced every single human being who ever looked up and wanted to go there.
Enjoy the moon.
Just know every astronaut who ever got there took their first journey out of a vagina.
Fund women’s health research the same way space travel is prioritized.

Throwback to being chosen as Miss Turnstyles January 2018. As a native New Yorker and the only Drum and Bass DJ & Music Producer featured in the calendar, it meant everything to be part of a project that highlighted NYC’s underground artists and creative history. Konkrete Jungle. Wetlands. 1996 and after.
Main room sets on the Wetlands stage, plus the TableTurns nights downstairs with talented, legendary DMC scratch DJs.
Built by Doug Sugarcuts, DJ IXL, Glenn DJ Excess, with Craze sliding through on occasion, and me laying the foundation. I provided the tunes while they cut, scratched, and pulled turntablist tricks live over my sets. At times, 10 turntables deep with 5 mixers running.
Pure turntable junglist experimentation. Wild. Unfiltered. Unconventional and, at the time, genuinely cutting edge.
It became one of my residencies. Nearly two decades of my life, evolving as Konkrete Jungle moved through different Manhattan clubs.

Hello from headquarters, a.k.a. bed.
I wanted to post a quiet update because some of the responses to my last video missed the mark. A reminder: how someone looks says nothing about how their body is actually doing. I did not have surgery on my face. I had major surgery throughout my abdomen and pelvis, including a hysterectomy, appendectomy, an endometrial Cyst and 12 endometriosis individual excisions. It has been torture.
Recovery has been intense. I am still in significant, constant pain ☹️, healing slowly and very limited in how much I can move or walk right now. Looking present or put-together does not equal feeling well. Both things can exist at the same time. Appearance is not a reliable indicator of health.
This photo is me without makeup. I still brushed my hair, put on moisturizer, and my beloved rosewater 🌹. Small acts of care matter to me.
This isn’t a call-out. Just a strong reminder to ask people how they’re doing instead of assuming based on appearances or social media posts. Bodies are complex. Healing is complex. Humans are complex. I’ve never been in this much pain in my entire life and I broke my neck twice. It’s been so bad and constant, I regret doing this surgery almost everyday. I’m praying for relief.

For 17 years I was a DJ resident at the legendary Konkrete Jungle weekly, here in Manhattan, NYC. This was 2009. These rooms were my church. Grateful for every crowd that helped carve this legacy and connected with me through music. I just finished my ode to both my birthplace home NYC & history, with a tune called “Concrete Jungle NYC”.
