We raced from New England back to Virginia just in time to catch the crushing Cannibal Corpse/Municipal Waste show at the National (October 15th), and it was a perfect reintegration back into Richmond as we saw and partied with so many dear friends. We also knew that a good weather window was drawing to a close, so we jumped right back into Van Halen and spent the following four days out in the Blue Ridge mountains camping and motorcycle riding and it was perfect. Being in Richmond in late October is always amazing as this city takes Halloween SERIOUSLY. We were invited to share an evening at the Byrd Theatre to celebrate our friend Angie’s client appreciation night for her company @avenue_riverfox with a special showing of ‘Beetlejuice’, and Angie brought the HEAT with her Lydia Deetz costume (RIP Catherine O’Hara!). A couple of days later, we hit Oregon Hill for the All-Saints Theatre Halloween Parade and it was BONKERS. So fun. We capped the evening at Suzie’s for the dance party, DJ’d by our friends Melissa & Bobby. They didn’t talk to us. We caught Windhand at the Broadberry (no photos 😢) , and we also drove out to Waynesboro for a crazy fun night with Sebastian Bach. Our friends April & Dave surprised us (so sneaky!), what a bunch of monkey business! Congratulations to @djdevolved , our November chicken of the month! Bobby trains with @mantismoves who had these wonderful things to say about him ‘I wanted to choose Bobby for Chicken of the Month because he really embodies everything we strive for here at MTF, both at the gym and in his work with the RVA music scene! (He runs the record store @vinylconflict , check them out!) Bobby started training with me about 9 months ago, fresh off of a pretty gnarly back injury. Everything in the gym was pretty intimidating and the thought of even TOUCHING a barbell was a hard no. Fast forward to now and Bobby is doing all the things! Bench, deadlift, you name it! The last 2 months especially, I have seen a HUGE confidence boost in Bobby and he seems to genuinely take so much joy from being in the gym. Bobby is a great communicator when it comes to his limits and boundaries, he’s a blast to hang out with, and he always goes out of his way to greet or chat with other members. All around, we are SO lucky to have one of RVA’s Most Solid Dudes as part of our community and I am honored to be his trainer!’
