The Haldi ceremony is where tradition touches the skin. Turmeric, known for its healing and spiritual properties, becomes part of the story. A moment where family prepares the couple for what’s to come.
So long, 2025!
This year, we visited 6 countries together (4 of which were new ones for me). We spent 3 months living in NYC and didn’t repeat a single restaurant the entire time. We celebrated my 40th birthday with our closest family and friends.
But also: I did 4 egg retrievals (in addition to two done in prior years). We created 10 euploid embryos but only 3 of those were unaffected by a gene we are screening out. We found a surrogate so that I can avoid expected health complications from pregnancy. We transferred two almost “perfect” embryos and they both failed. We’re ending 2025 realizing that the road to parenthood may be even longer and more winding than we thought (and we weren’t exactly expecting an easy path). In 2026, our journey continues. Fortunately for me, Sheel has never wavered in his belief that (1) we’ll get there eventually and (2) if we don’t, we have each other and that’s what really matters.
Here’s to taking on 2026, whatever joys and obstacles it brings, together.

For those interested, here is the winning video. We brainstormed this on the long drive to Reno ahead of my first Burning Man and stopped at a Taco Bell to film it. At the time, we didn’t think we’d actually submit it, let alone win the contest or (god forbid) get married in the metaverse. But here we are! Glad Taco Bell was able to look past these “acting” skills and give these crazy kids a shot at virtual love and commitment.

With our metaverse nuptials fast approaching (watch this space for more), it feels like a good time to promote our engagement content from “story highlight” to “feed post.” It was a true surprise (actually series of surprises) featuring a fantastical venue near one of my favorite cities and involving some of my favorite people.
