On our way home from watching a mum, calf, and escort we were treated to a mini breach fest — mum and calf put on an absolute show, breaching at least 10 times before we had to head back in for our next trip! Our 11:45am cruise was in for a treat too — passengers witnessed a southbound heat run of a 6-whale pod, and just nearby a playful calf got a bit jumpy before the pod powered past. We kicked off the morning with a really great start – calm seas and some curious whales showing themselves close to shore 🙌. By midday the wind was up around 30 knots, but the whales had us covered, blanketing us right below the cliffs and keeping us sheltered from the blow 💨🐋. We even made a quick stop by the cliffs to spot some playful NZ fur seals 🦭.
