🥳Hi 👋 It's been YEARS since I introduced myself properly on this account (Insta) and NEVER on Facebook. Theres a whole bunch of newbies to the channel so I'm gonna give you the 101, in a rare DIY With Emma static grid post.
😃I'm Emma and I've been running my Insta account for about 4 years. My first posts were a whole bunch of time lapses of me doing my renovation. Needless to say, in 2018 videos weren't all that popular on Insta or FB and I didn't really find my people.
🙆🏻♀️Joined tiktok in 2020 and grew a DIY community very quickly, currently 333k as well as communities on FB (233k) and Pinterest (13k).
✍️I realised I was able to help people get into DIY and started doing how-to videos and DIY hacks. I gave daily updates of whatever I was working on and these became my "follow along" projects, where I would show the things that went well and more importantly the things that didn't go well, to normalise the learning process for others on social media.
😫I reached a point where I was working 7 days a week; 60 hours a week as a consultant and every other waking minute making content that I published 1-2 times DAILY. I could no longer do both, I had to choose.
🏡I quit my corporate job in March 2021 and I am now a full-time content creator helping people to do DIY in their homes.
🦸🏻♀️I dress as superheroes to remind people that DIY is supposed to be fun and that DIY is for everybody; you don't need to look or be a certain way to do DIY, regardless of what you might have been taught growing up.
🙏You don't need a certain amount of experience to get started and it's really normal to make mistakes when you are learning something new. The social pressure to get it right first time stops so many people from having the courage to even start.
😋It's my mission to make DIY accessable and affordable for everyone. It's why I caption my videos on Tiktok and Instagram. Although as a dyslexic person myself, its not without a spelling mistake or two.
💬I find it exceptionally rewarding to be the face of @diywithemma because I know it helps people; you tell me EVERY DAY.
❤️But, I'm glad you're here because you help me too, I was so miserable in corporate.

I'm forever starting new projects when I've not tidied up from the last one 😬, partly that's because some surfaces are kinda hard to clean. I've spent ages trying ways to clean my door mat, including pressure washers and shaking out the dirt with a massage gun. Finally found one that worked 😎. Thank you @bisselluk for letting me know about your SpotClean HydroSteam, I really rate it, anything to make our job easier is a win by me 🦸🦩. Now I'm ready to start my new project, I'd love to know what you all think I'm gonna do!
