inspired by a jawbone (species unknown), this desk piece, consisting of a pen holder and a tape dispenser, explores the nature of the bone through abstracting its curves. I analyzed the aesthetic and structural identity of the jawbone through a literalist lens, but kept the integrity of details such as the play between negative and positive space in the tooth cavities. This example references the circular motifs distributed along the form and how they interact with the circular holes. The pen holder and the tape dispenser communicate with one another both structurally and visually, connected by magnets and disengaged by the species of wood: ash and walnut. Finished with wood bowl finish.
