The resume is long for singer and producer Dixson! We caught up with the multi-talented artist to talk about his work on Kehlani’s two-time Grammy-nominated song “Folded,” and the creative lesson he learned while helping shape one of the biggest R&B songs of the year. #Grammys

Father God, you are GOOD and your mercy endures forever. It is by your Grace that we are not consumed. This Grammy is a love letter to 2023 Dixson, the year I met @kehlani . My friends remember that year, and how I fought to show up for myself, so I wouldn’t lose everything I worked to build. Thank you K, for advocating for me not just in the music space but for my mental health. To @miss_antoinette , thank you for making this weekend so special for me and my mom. Thank you for putting up with all my crazy antics and being thoughtful and supportive. I love you and to say I owe you is an understatement. I’m sure I’ll be paying this one back for a while 😩❤️! I’m 3 projects in with you K, playing many roles in your art. I’m so proud of everything we’ve made. For your self-titled, we talked about what you needed, and I’ll keep it a stack, it was different than our usual talks. You were laser focused on details I’d rather let you share. It took me a second to adjust, but that’s what growth looks like. I needed to grow too, and this project accomplished just that for all of us. Trust is an element that gets lost in this broken industry. We all have so many valid reasons to separate ourselves, not team build, to not create community. I watched you fight for everyone on this project. You gave me important roles that forced me to learn how to communicate better, lead people (in love), put plays together, settle misunderstandings, and score strings for the first time in my life on an album. You said my name first to work with our heroes. You didn’t gate keep opportunities for yourself. You made it a priority to make sure I had a seat at the same table you were at. People don’t get to know the breadth of your care. I’m here to quell any doubt on that. You helped me form a friendship that I really cherish in @khrisriddicktynes at point in my life where I didn’t know if that was possible in our business. Fitting I got my first Grammy the night KEHLANI dropped. Crazy that we speak almost every day, in some form, whether it’s a call, a meme, sending a song or prayer, despite how crazy our schedules are. I could talk about the roles I played on KEHLANI, and maybe one day I will. But for now, I’ll just listen to us duet on STILL. See, another jewel in our Pandora’s box. Everything the people need to read is in the credits. What people should be more impressed with is the woman you are. Thank you for trusting me K. I’m so proud of you.
