On May 21st, I became the first in my family to receive my Bachelor’s Degree. To say I am grateful is an understatement; I faced many adversities from before and after I chose to move to New York and attend St. John’s. I had many doubters and heard several “No’s”, but I knew nothing would stop me from pursuing my dreams.
My years as a college student taught me so much about myself, my capabilities, and the life I envision for myself. Although I came to New York knowing literally only one other person, I am left with a community of friends and supporters that I hold so much love and respect for.
It is my honor to start new trends within my family knowing I won’t be the last to do so. I dedicate this degree to them knowing that without their hard work or sacrifices, I would not be the woman I am today.
My future looks so bright from this end and although, this chapter closes, I know so much is in store for me. 🤍
