People always ask me why I chose the @divesoft Liberty CCR 📟 Honestly? Three main reasons:
🔴 REDUNDANCY
This unit is built with backups on basically everything:
• 2 independent control units
• 4 oxygen sensors
• 2 helium sensors
• Dual solenoids
• 4 pressure sensors
• Dual batteries
And this is key because the unit is life support equipment. Even if something fails, the system is designed to provide a backup and keep you safely on the loop. The Liberty is a fault tolerant electronically controlled rebreather, meaning all vital elements are redundant, so no single failure, or even a combination of failures, should disable the system.
That philosophy follows the same approach used in many aerospace safety critical applications, and honestly, that level of engineering gives me so much confidence underwater. Nothing is “over-engineered” if my life depends on it.
🔴 VERSATILITY
The Liberty doesn’t lock you into one style of diving. I can dive it sidemount, backmount, or even configure it as a bailout unit depending on the dive.
Different dives require different setups, because I absolutely believe there’s a more efficient configuration depending on the environment. Cave, wreck, deeper open water… the Liberty adapts to the dive instead of forcing the dive to adapt to the unit.
🔴 COMMUNITY & SUPPORT
This is the part people underestimate most when buying a CCR.
You’re not just buying a unit, you’re buying into a network of people who help you grow on the system.
With Divesoft & Liberty you have:
• @libertydiversclub organising trips to incredible locations
• @level3divers partners strategically positioned around the world to support you with anything from spare parts to training
• Technicians spread worldwide
• A manufacturer that genuinely listens and keeps improving their products instead of becoming complacent
For me, the Liberty @divesoft is one of the strongest CCR systems on the market right now. And if you want to try it… you know where to find me 👀

In this series, we’ll introduce you to the Divesoft team—the people who design, manufacture, assemble, and promote everything for you. This is Divesoft! 🙏
ALEŠ PROCHÁSKA / Divesoft Co-Founder
First experience with diving?
"As a child, I watched J.Y. Cousteau’s shows and was tempted to try diving myself. At that time, it was practically impossible in our country, but later the opportunity arose. I tried it and found that it was exactly what I enjoyed. From that moment on, I stopped pursuing other sports, even those that were interesting and technically demanding, like paragliding. It became clear that diving was the right sport for me."
How did your journey with Divesoft start?
"It started simply. I noticed that certain technical equipment didn’t exist or could be improved, so I began making it myself. Friends wanted to try it, and from there, founding Divesoft and manufacturing it professionally was the natural next step. For me, a diver should never feel limited by equipment. That’s why CCR is my choice, I can dive as long as I want, not just until my gas runs out."
What's your role at Divesoft?
"Currently, I focus on automated testing of diving equipment. Our laboratory allows us to measure parameters and test breathing apparatus and other gear even at depths a diver could never reach. These machines can withstand extreme conditions and help identify areas where equipment needs improvement or modification."

Divesoft Liberty Light vs Heavy
To begin, it’s important to state that both units share identical electronics, control systems, breathing loops, and safety architecture. The differences are purely in:
• frame design
• onboard gas capacity
• intended diving style
This comparison is meant to help you better understand which model might be more suitable for you—not to generalize users or types of diving. Both versions are capable of supporting the same types of dives.
MARKET POSITIONING:
🔴 Liberty Light
➤ Primary focus: Travel, comfort
➤ Philosophy: Lightweight, compact CCR
➤ Typical diver: Traveling CCR diver
⚫️ Liberty Heavy
➤ Primary focus: Technical diving, scalability
➤ Philosophy: Designed for the most challenging dives; can be configured in a DIR style
➤ Typical diver: Advanced technical / exploration diver
FRAME & CONSTRUCTION:
🔴 Liberty Light
• Soft back padding system (no “hard shell” backplate)
• Uses carbon fiber components
• Designed for comfort and flexibility
• More ergonomic for smaller divers and travel setups
• Integrated weight pocket system
⚫️ Liberty Heavy
• Rigid setup with traditional backplate, wing, and stand
• Built for robustness, modular rigging, and heavy equipment integration
• Can be mounted on the diver’s own backplate
CYLINDER & GAS CONFIGURATION:
🔴 Liberty Light
• Typically uses 2L or 3L onboard cylinders
• Limited expansion for onboard gas
• Focus on simplicity and a compact profile
⚫️ Liberty Heavy
• Extremely flexible gas setup with multiple cylinder mounting options:
3L / 7L onboard cylinders (possibly even larger)
• Can support a DIR-style manifolded diluent system with additional cylinders (O₂ + Argon)
ERGONOMICS & IN-WATER FEEL:
🔴 Liberty Light
• More freedom of head movement
• Softer, more comfortable fit
• Better suited for long dives with minimal load or for smaller body frames
⚫️ Liberty Heavy
• More stable and rigid platform
• Better suited for heavy bailout setups and multi-stage diving
• Greater precision and stability
This is not a “better vs worse” choice. It’s about what is more suit
Crystal clear water. Endless white sand.
Just me, the current, and the quiet hum of the Seacraft TAC2000 DPV.
The Divesoft Liberty sidemount rebreather gave me the freedom to move silently through the ocean, covering distance after distance during the Across Maldives project.
No shortcuts. No easy days. Just discipline, endurance, and the ocean.
