Black Powder Red Earth is known for its realistic, gritty, and uncompromising take on military fiction inspired by real-world events. It also prides itself on being informed by real-world practitioners in the field and counts among its fanbase numerous warfighters.
Some particularly memorable aspects of the process:
-Assaulter here is running BCM4 with suppressor and Nightforce ATACR LPVO. I think this is the only time I get to show the model I tried my best to replicate. As beautiful as the BCM4 is (that stock and handguard especially...) I remember wanting to stab myself every 5 minutes with my stylus matching the plane changes from the references.
-This was actually the 1st of 2 'art test' images that I requested to do. This image is set in the same location (that I had mocked up in 3D) as the [previous image posted], and overwatching that same junction. (He's literally up the stairs on a balcony to the left top of image)

This was done a couple months back specifically for the 28mm miniature Tabletop Game that has just been released under the brand. (They have comics, and a computer game too, which I enjoyed on Steam!)
Some particularly memorable aspects of the process:
-This was actually the 2nd of 2 'art test' images that I requested to do, and while various shots were storyboarded to pitch it, it eventually fell on an angle I felt sold the Big Idea which was small unit tactics and how the Scorch teams moved through their operation area. It dawned on me there and then despite its telephoto nature, the shot presents it almost like how a player would perceive BPRE in the world of 28mm tabletop! (I had even pitched a IR HUD-rich drone-cam feed from one of their loitering Scoria drones and now kinda glad we didn't go there LOL)
-The rain was inspired by parts of the discussion where Jon mentioned these guys don't 'stack up', and when operating at this level they literally flow through an environment 'like water', so while this composition might not be ideal for sensationalising the aspect of 'fluidity' the supporting details like the Akira faux-long exposure light trails and water physics, I hope prop that up a bit.
-Opportunistic specular reflections of their Red Spectacles and aesthetically-enhanced red tinted on their optics, instruments, etc. As well as some neon signs for some smol cyberpunkyness.
-The "slum-kid fanart/Crayon Graffiti" is something I thought was cute, could be read like urban legend on one level or maybe something more sinister, hearts and minds becoming too efficient?

Some noteworthy elements that I recall fondly agonising over:
-the car 'muzzle wash' off the dirty Toyota, and deflecting off the ground. In BPRE, elements of Scorch teams(featured here) operate almost exclusively AT NIGHT or in low-light conditions. The suppressors are to support that purpose to mask their presence and the audio and visual report of their guns, and lorewise, even the BACKUP flashlights are purely there when everything goes FUBAR. ANY unfortunate incident with light-discipline can result in their teams being discovered and losing the advantage of stealth. And these folks are all about the unfair advantage.
I also wanted to sell the idea of the power of the unique munitions they are running, and their excellent training and attitude towards their work. Few things say 'jaded pro' like holding in a gunfight in a black T-shirt and maintaining that graceful firing posture that I saw in one of the reference photos.
-the specific kit from the Scorch teams *updated halfway through the illus* loadout being featured, with the Team Leader here having a Unity FAST™ FTC Magnifier Mount. Such a cool idea and piece of engineering!!!
-tracer reflections off the windscreen ^_^
