📊 Have you seen the latest nutrition stats? The demographic profile of the nutrition field has remained largely unchanged—and these numbers tell a story we can’t ignore. Here at Diversify Dietetics, we’re working to change the narrative by creating programs that support and uplift nutrition professionals of color. But we can’t do this without YOU. 💡 Together, we can build a more inclusive, representative nutrition field that reflects the communities we serve. Support our Fund the Future Campaign today and help us make an even greater impact in 2025. Every contribution counts! According to the Commission on Dietetic Registration, less than 18,000 RDNs are BIPOC. Let that sink in for a moment- in a country with over 331 million people, there are less than 18,000 RDNs who identify as people of color. Keep in mind- everyone eats… Alarmingly, ACEND data reports that the number of all dietetics students declined in the past year. This decline was much more pronounced in BIPOC students. While it’s too early to tell for sure what the cause or causes were in this sharp decline (COVID, the graduate requirement, economy ,etc)  this decline is telling us more support is needed. More alarmingly, even prior to the events of 2020, we were seeing a steady decline in Black students in particular.  On the other side of the equation- BIPOC RDNS are retiring every day, and some are choosing to leave the profession. And communities of color are seeing increases in health disparities and have a greater interest in improving their health with cultural and ancestral foodways.  We could go on and on… but we think you get where we’re going. We started DD in April 2018 to create a community to support BIPOC students and young professionals, and by extension, to improve health equity in communities of color. We could not have anticipated how important our work would be at that time.  But we are determined to continue to support BIPOC students and professionals, and to ensure that the diverse communities we serve receive the care they deserve and have a right to. --- We have just four days left in this year’s Fund the Future 2024 campaign ✨ Please donate today to help us continue this important work, help us support more BIPOC students and professionals, and help us change the face of nutrition 🙏🏽 #fundthefutute2024 #diversifydietetics #Registereddietitian #dietitian #dietitiansofcolor #rdsofcolor #rd2be #rdtobe #rd2b #dieteticstudents

In this episode of Feed Me the Facts, Danielle sits down with Daniela Hurtado, MS, RD, CSSD, and Rayanne Nguyen, MS, RD, CSSD, LDN—two sports dietitians and leaders redefining what athlete care can look like. 🍽️💪🏽 From long days in collegiate athletics to launching a nonprofit tackling food insecurity, Daniela and Rayanne pull back the curtain on what it really means to fuel athletes—beyond the highlight reels and performance metrics. They share powerful stories from the field, the hidden barriers many athletes face, and how they’re reimagining care through The Athlete Meal Plan. 📚👩🏽‍🍳⚡️ This conversation challenges the assumption that access is guaranteed in sports and highlights how dietitians can step into roles as advocates, innovators, and change makers—building solutions that extend far beyond traditional practice.🔋🏀🏈⚽️🏉🎾👟🏊🏽‍♀️⚾️🏐🏒🏅 🎧 Listen now on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube /podcast/the-athelete-meal-plan #dietitian #sportsnutrition #cssd #nonprofit #nutrition

We are walking into 2026 full of gratitude — and it’s all because of you. Thanks to this powerful community, we raised $25,866 during our 2026 Rooting Deeply, Rising Higher Annual Giving campaign! Whether you gave, shared, encouraged, or simply believed in this work, you helped us plant seeds that will grow for years to come. And the way this community showed up at the end? Unreal. On December 29 we were 10k away from our goal and in just 48 hours, you rallied to hit and exceed $25,000 before the campaign closed. That kind of heart, joy, and collective momentum is what makes this community unlike any other. 💛 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in this work — and in the future we’re building together. Enjoy the start of the new year! With endless gratitude, The DD Team

We love asking the DD community, “How do you envision the future of dietetics?” Because building a more inclusive field starts with listening — and @the.tlc.rd said it so well. The future is DIVERSE in so many ways! We’re closing out the year with momentum — and there’s still time to help us go further by going to our end of the year campaign! Because of this community, Diversify Dietetics is heading into the new year rooted and rising — able to continue mentorship, scholarships, and culturally responsive training for future dietitians of color. ✨If you’re able, your support helps us extend this impact and carry our work forward into the year ahead. 📲 Donate via link in bio

✨Dr. Andie Lee Gonzalez—also known as Andie Lee—is a first-generation Latina dietitian whose journey spans community nutrition, retail, private practice, academia, and industry. In this episode, she walks us through her path from growing up in South Texas to becoming a Pediatric Medical Science Liaison at Abbott Nutrition, all while co-owning a bilingual private practice and teaching the next generation of dietitians. 📚Andie Lee opens up about navigating higher education as a first-generation student, discovering dietetics through community nutrition, and facing the financial barriers of unpaid internships. She shares how mentorship and alternative pathways made her career possible—and why she’s committed to paying that support forward. 👩🏻‍⚕️We dive into what a Medical Science Liaison actually does, what a typical week looks like when you juggle multiple roles, and how to recognize when it’s time to pivot. Andie Lee also speaks candidly about imposter syndrome, burnout, and the importance of rest, reflection, and owning your seat at the table. ❤️Throughout the conversation, Andie Lee emphasizes culturally responsive care, bilingual nutrition education, and why representation and mentorship are essential to the future of dietetics—especially in underserved communities.
