Well this was a first, a second line down Panola Street last night. Were I not already in my PJ’s, I would have jumped right in…and if this doesn’t make one want to be a tuba player, I don’t know what to tell ya!
Today especially, I think of all the challenges people face and being able to have children can definitely be one of the biggest. Having my boys was years in the making and it was not clear I would be able to have children, but as I am getting older, I am so grateful that Gd allowed me to become a mom. It is the best and most challenging thing I have ever done and I am so grateful. I want to wish all the caregivers, the Moms, the Dads, the grandparents, the extended family, the babysitters, all the nurturers a very happy Mother’s Day. I could not have raised these boys without a village and I am truly grateful to those of you who have helped us along the way. You all know who you are. And to those who are struggling to become parents, I see you. Today can be terribly frought for many and I understand. I was there too. Thinking of all of these things especially today. 💗
Our ode to Bruce.
The St. Bruce candle we picked up last weekend in Austin, Tx at a cute shop called, “Wild About Music.”
The framed and signed picture was given to me 9 years ago for the Chanukah Harry gift exchange at my former synagoguMiriam BaronBaron. She stood outside Bruce’s show on Broadway, I believe three times before getting a signed photo of him. She knows how much Bruce means to me and my family. It is one of my most treasured possessions. And what’s crazier is that Miriam is from New Orleans and her parents belonTemple Sinai - New Orleansleans. Full circle and thank you so much again, Miriam for this very special gift!
Underneath Bruce’s photo is a wonderful signed concert poster Alexander Hatzidiakosander gave me for Valentine’s Day. Bruce signed this one as well, as did the other participants in the show.

Whoa-what a night to remember! TY to my sweet friend and colleague, Cantor Kevin Margolius for inviting me to sing w you at Jazz Fest Shabbat! TY to Touro Synagogue, it’s clergy and leadership and all who worked so hard to bring this amazing event to life! It was truly a joy and an honor! And wow-Tonya Boyd-Cannon! What a light and talent in this world. Love her! More to come, but am now thinking about how great this double-header shabbat has been! 💙🦋🙏🏻
I’ve been a little quiet about this, but tomorrow night I am excited to say that I am pulling a Shabbat double header @Temple Sinai - New Orleans Sinai - New Orleans at 6pm and thanks to my colleague Cantor Kevin Margolius, I am invited to participate in Jazz Fest Shabbat at Touro Synagogue at 7:30pm.
It is a full circle moment for me, as my dear friend and colleague, Cantor Steve Dubov, z”l started Jazz Fest Shabbat many years ago and it means a lot to me to be a part of what Steve began and do so in his memory.
So hope I get to see you somewhere along St. Charles Ave. tomorrow night! Shabbat Shalom!💙🙏🏻🦋
Another stunning wedding with an absolutely gorgeous couple, both inside and out, right here in New Orleans in an historical home. To say it was a pleasure would truly be an understatement. It was an honor to officiate and sheer joy to celebrate with my Alexander by my side! Mazal tov and l’chaim!

Last night was very exciting for our family, Alexander Hatzidiakos was in a short film at the Tulane film festival. He was awesome and what a thrill to see him on the big screen! Tulane created a fantastic event too! So impressed by the school! Having a proud wife moment over here!👏🎬❤️🕺🏻🦋
On Tuesday evening, our community commemorated Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day at the World War 2 Museum, New Orleans. We sang Max Helfman’s 4 part arrangement of “Ani Maamin.” Huge gratitude to Cantor Kevin Margolius for organizing this quartet of Trey Sipho Pratt, @alex paige loomis and myself and to Jérémie Henan for playing for us. It was most meaningful to be able to use our voices together to help commemorate and honor our relatives and those lost in the Holocaust.

Last night was our #popintoart gala. Was super fun! I tried to turn myself into a comic book character/Lichtenstein painting. I def had fun with that. Posted a reference photo so that you can get the jist of what I was trying to do. Huge kudos to those who worked so hard to make last night a huge success! It was fabulous! Only regret is not getting more photos w people-was having too much fun!
