Arabic music is the fastest growing movement in the region. We are the moment, and we are shaping the agenda. But how do you create cultural moments that don’t feel transactional? Our panel explored the intersection between brands and artists, and how real cultural movements happen when artists, brands, and audiences genuinely connect. A key theme was authenticity, today’s audiences can instantly tell when something feels forced. “People are far more intelligent nowadays. They can spot something that is manufactured and not authentic.” We also discussed Ramadan’s role in shaping culture across the region, where music, storytelling, and campaigns become part of a shared yearly experience. “Ramadan is the most important season to people and the audience waits to watch what brands are releasing in Ramadan. It’s a very challenging time for brands and artists to stay unique and stand out amongst the clutter in Ramadan.” — Dalida Tolba Another key theme was curiosity, experimentation, and giving artists the freedom to create. “Curiosity is the start of any cultural moment.” — Amr Helmy “Brands need to invest in the infrastructure that artists need to create cultural moments.” — Asem Tag At its core, the conversation came back to one idea: the best cultural moments genuinely move people and last beyond the campaign.

Behind every hit is someone creating a feeling, not just writing words. Our panel explored what really makes a hit, balancing pressure, creativity, and the rise of AI while creating songs tailored to each artist. Mohamed Saber emphasized that success is never just luck. “Every success story has luck behind it, but luck never comes without effort.” The discussion around hit-making focused less on formulas and more on purpose. Menna El Kiey explained that she never writes to chase trends. A song needs to do something emotionally. “A song should either make you feel, dance, or laugh.” Since three of our panel speakers come from advertising backgrounds, they always start with an idea before writing anything. That mindset helps them create songs with intention rather than music for the sake of it. One of the strongest points from the discussion was that humans remain the source of vision and meaning. “You are the prompt for the content.” Their conclusion was clear: AI can assist, but it cannot replace artistic instinct, especially within Arabic songwriting and culture. “AI can be a lot of things, but AI is not an artist.”

Egypt’s first dedicated music summit, Channel 4+, taking place May 14 - 16 at District 5 in New Cairo, has announced the full programme for its debut edition. Led by Tin N Co, Digitent World, Marakez, P+US, and Sound Sauce, the three-day summit brings together key players from across the region’s music industry for a packed schedule of live performances, showcases, workshops, talks, and exhibitions. From the evolution of mahraganat as a genre to conversations around artist branding and identity-building, Channel 4+ is creating space for some of the region’s most pressing discussions at the intersection of music, culture, finance, and technology. The summit will feature artists, agents, and industry leaders shaping nightlife, creative economies, and contemporary cultural movements, from underground scenes to global festival stages. Alongside its panel discussions, the programme includes a series of specialised workshops spanning music production, publishing and rights management, and music video direction. Sessions will feature Egyptian rap artist Marwan Moussa, entertainment lawyer Khaled Mitwally, and acclaimed filmmaker Director X, known for his visual work with artists including Drake and Rihanna.
