This amazing collab from @grainandpixels (Denver, CO) and @mandygrotie_art (Portland, OR) slipped through the cracks before the project slowed down and I totally forgot to post it! Here it is, better late than never. . Full story from @grainandpixels : "Mandy bends lines and fills the space between with vivid colors to create her sometimes funky images. Don photographs the natural world around him and experiments with layering images that have gone through a pixel sorting process. We started out with an idea of stained glass. Even though the final image might not present itself as a traditional stained glass we think that some of the elements of line, color and texture are reminiscent. What’s even more incredible to us is the fact that we both went off and created our own individual pieces, with no communication between the two of us, that mesh so well together thematically, without knowing what the other was doing. Mandy’s image has aquatic elements that are echoed in Don’s use of water and soap bubbles. Don’s pine needles seem to form eyelashes for Mandy’s eye. It seems we channeled some kind of rare energy for this distant collaboration. @distantcollabs @mandygrotie_art ⁣"

Distant Collabs is a passion project by @erickarbeling to match creatives across the globe and create a collaborative project during the quarantine. I was paired up with Alex of @off_thedribble . Despite being on opposite coasts (I’m in California, he’s in Florida) and having vastly different interests, we found one thing we had in common. It was passion for our interests. For him, it’s basketball, and for me, it’s D&D. We bounced ideas back and forth and then settled on this phrase “For the Love Of the Game.” Basketball and D&D though miles apart, you can find passionate people on both sides that truly love it for what the game is. Props to Alex for contributing the dope illustration! That heart is so freaking realistic I love it. For my part, I contributed the script lettering for the quote. ⁣ ⁣. It was such a blast working with him. Sorry I had some delays getting this done my friend! Thankfully he was pretty cool about it and we finally got to share this with you all.
