Today marks the release of the third @smellybdrmm album, Microtonic. A culmination of the ideas and themes we’ve been developing for years, it’s our most toiled over and (to be honest) best record to date. Songs span from my first days at uni to the last days of studio work we had booked in, and captures the happiness and devastation of those years.
I’m proud of everyone involved but especially @_ryansmith , @cmurray64 and Joe (doesn’t have insta the fucking genius) for being the greatest people and actively encouraging the best in each other on and off the pitch. I’m proud to be working alongside my best friends on a project that hasn’t ever compromised what we consider to be valid or interesting, artistic or otherwise.
Also massive shoutout to our uber-confidante and personal George Martin, @greaves_alex . A fucking genius in his own right, Greaves is an intrinsic part of bdrmm, and actively helped shape what were a series of demos and loops into an album that holds a dear place in my heart. It’s a belter, go and listen/buy from wherever you consume nowadays.
Here’s some choice clips from the recording process that I mostly stole from other people.
