Trying new materials. This DAVID is jesmonite with marble powder. In the studio we have been finding out the properties of the material. Etching it and riffling special details has been such a discovery. This work has been possible with the outstanding help of my friend and collaborator @dishboydreaming

Artist Spotlight: William Eicholtz Melbourne-based sculptor @dishboydreaming centres his practice on the human figure and its place within contemporary art. Drawing from both his queer identity and the traditions of European figurative sculpture, his work brings together classical reference and contemporary narrative, often exploring themes of baroque lavishness and shared cultural memory. Working across bronze, ceramic and other materials, Eicholtz creates detailed, ornate forms that invite close observation while operating confidently at architectural scale. @colin_hyett_design_ first encountered Eicholtz as a lecturer while studying at university, and the two later shared a studio in Windsor… an early connection that shaped an ongoing creative dialogue. His works are held in public settings across Australia, including Lady of Justice (2002) at the County Court of Victoria, E. T. Towner VC MC (2008) in Blackall, and commissions for the City of Yarra including COURAGE (2014) and Close Knit (2023). Included in Baroque: Doing It My Way Now on view John’s Barn, Balnarring Photography @theheightlife / @lewis.a.alexander #WilliamEicholtz #HyettAndTheCaptain #MeetTheArtist #AustralianSculpture #ContemporarySculpture
