Construction at the George R Brown convention center on Polk Street has closed the Avenida Central Garage to the public.
Street parking around Discovery Green is the most economical but will be limited for the next few months. The McKinney parking lane adjacent to Discovery Green has been converted into a bike lane. Street parking is still available on La Branch. We suggest allowing yourself ample time to find a spot.
Alternatively, you may use the Avenida North Garage (701 Avenida de las Americas) or surface lot parking options such as 1515 Rusk Street Parking Lot. Rates may vary.

♻️ Now on Lamar and Crawford for all our downtown and recycling friends, Discovery Green offers a recycling bin every Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm. The bin is provided by the City of Houston to encourage Houstonians to reduce waste. Protect the Earth by dropping off your clean plastics, paper, glass and aluminum.

🌱Discovery Green Conservancy welcomed Houston’s civic, philanthropic, and cultural leaders on Saturday, May 9, for the inaugural “A Night of Discovery,” a vibrant new spring fundraiser celebrating the programming, art, music, and community experiences that have made Discovery Green one of Houston’s most beloved public spaces.
✨Co-chaired by Frances Lummis and Gillian Sarofim, cousins of Discovery Green co-founder Maconda Brown O’Connor, the event marked a new generation of civic leaders guiding the vision and philanthropy that helped transform downtown Houston. The evening raised funds in support of Discovery Green's operations, free year-round programming, and large-scale public art initiatives that serve more than 3.3 million visitors annually.
Many thanks to all who attended and everyone who supports this uncommonly beautiful green space!

Creative Mental Wellness was established to help fill gaps in access to mental health resources within communities by promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting people with resources that support their mental and emotional well-being.
