#DidYouKnow that tigers love water? 🌊 The primary reason for this is their habitat. The world’s tiger population is largely situated in Southeast Asia, in warm tropical evergreen forests ☀️ Since tigers hunt at night, they spend a majority of their day lounging in bodies of water to cool off 🐯 📸: @msharma.pixels 📍Ranthambore, India 🇮🇳 Want to be featured? Shaking off a dust bath, captured in slo-mo 📹 Some birds take dust baths to condition their feathers. Preening distributes oil secreted by their glands throughout their plumage, which can create a build up of grease and cause matting 🪶 When dust bathing, particles will bind to the excess oil, which the bird can then shake out of their feathers for a clean shower 🚿 📸: @tony_wanders_photo 📍Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸 Want to be featured? The tiger’s roar 🐅 It’s estimated that a roar from a tiger can be heard up to 2 miles away, reaching volumes as high as 114 decibels 🔊 The main purposes for roaring are to establish territory and attract potential mates. During mating season, female tigers can even detect the size and strength of a male tiger just from their roar! 🐯 Tigers can also produce infrasound growls that are too low pitched for humans to detect, with the power to paralyse prey animals 🦌 📸: @thewildlens.sn 📍Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, India 🇮🇳 Want to be featured? Happy International Leopard Day! 🐾 #DidYouKnow that leopards play a crucial role in maintaining healthy, diverse ecosystems? 🌳 As apex predators, leopards help regulate the population of herbivores and smaller carnivores through predation and interference competition 🐆 Without top carnivores like leopards, a trophic cascade would occur, resulting in a loss of vegetation, reduced biodiversity, loss of freshwater supplies and reduced ecosystem resilience 🌍 📸: @seanweekly #InternationalLeopardDay #DiscoveryWild #BigCats
