Frederick County represented at the Maryland Manufacturing Summit last week. Organized by the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), this year's event focused on how better mentoring and new technology can help our manufacturers get team members up-to-speed faster and increase retention rates. When new hires have the support they need to succeed from day one, our whole community wins! #FredCoBiz #FrederickCountyMD #MadeInFrederickMD

Frederick County continues to be a manufacturing leader in Maryland, and the expansion of the Foreign Trade Zone program into our county presents an opportunity for manufacturers to streamline operations and improve supply chain efficiency. This week we joined with our local manufacturing partners for a Made In Frederick Lunch, Learn & Tour hosted by Wilcoxon Sensing Technologies. Touring Wilcoxon and having a presentation on the advantages of expanded Foreign Trade Zones was a great opportunity to connect and learn. #FrederickCountyMD #FredCoBiz #MadeInFrederickMD

Last week we had the pleasure of joining several of our local and state partners to host the Women’s Business Roundtable at Hood College. We were thrilled to have Senator Alsobrooks here in Frederick County for a meaningful discussion on the impact women make to our communities and our economy. #FrederickCountyMD #FredCoBiz #FredCoEmpower

The team at FCOED recently joined together with our partners at the Frederick County Division of Planning and Permitting, The City of Frederick and the State of Maryland for a Commercial Property Tour of Frederick County. This tour provided the opportunity to see commercial real estate that is either available or under construction across the County. Seeing these projects and properties in person and learning more about their features helps equip our team with a knowledge of the local commercial landscape. This is key when working with Frederick County businesses looking to expand, or prospective companies looking for the perfect location in our area. From brand new construction and developer-led renovations, to established business parks and busy commercial areas, Frederick County is filled with opportunities for businesses to thrive. Looking for help finding the perfect location for your business? Reach out to the FCOED team at [email protected].

We recently joined our community partners to celebrate the launching of the Downtown Frederick Retail Incubator. This exciting project is a collaboration between Downtown Frederick Partnership and SOUL Street, and is made possible thanks to funding from the Truist Foundation. Expected to open later this year, the new incubator will offer retail entrepreneurs affordable space, resources and mentorship, shared amenities, and real-life business training. This will let entrepreneurs test and grow their business concepts in a low-risk environment, right in the heart of downtown Frederick’s business district. Keep an eye out for applications to open up in the spring. You can learn more about the Downtown Frederick Retail Incubator located in Federated Charities Frederick at /retailincubator/
