The Melplash Agricultural Show is one of the biggest days in the West Dorset calendar. 🌾 Dating back to 1846, it was originally founded to encourage the best in farming, livestock breeding, and local produce and it’s still going strong nearly 180 years later. From prize-winning cattle 🐂 to delicious local food 🥧, traditional crafts, and spectacular displays, it’s a celebration of all things rural.

On 7th August, I’ll be taking part in #Farm24 24-hour celebration of British farming, in collaboration with @farmersguardian and @morrisons .
I’ll be sharing what a real day on the farm looks like the early starts, the dry cows on their summer break, calves finding their feet, and the way we try to work with nature, not against it.
I know farming can feel a bit hidden sometimes, so this is your chance to ask anything no silly questions, I promise.

What a day! 🌾🚜 Open Farm Sunday was a huge success!
We welcomed nearly 1,400 visitors through our gates and couldn’t have done it without our incredible 85 volunteers, working alongside 8 tractor & trailer teams running non-stop from 10am to 4pm!
Highlights included:
🎤 8 inspiring speakers over
📚 5 sessions in the brand new Home Farm classroom – officially opened by the amazing Patrick Holden! @patrickholdensft
🐥 Chicks were cuddled
🐄 Calves were hugged
🐑 Sheep were petted
🍽️ Guests tucked into delicious local food – from farm-fresh beef and chicken to mouth-watering venison steak sandwiches.
👨👩👧 Children and adults alike got hands-on with farming thanks to Discover Farming, explored machinery from tractors to combines, and even learned how compost is made and used.
