🎉🎊 Hey y'all I'm excited to share that the hashtag I started waaaaay back in 2015 (#fromwhereidrone) just crossed the 1,000,000 mark on Instagram. These are some of the first images I tagged it on. It's a bit wild thinking back because it all started off as a little joke ;) Let me explain…

On one of my first flights I took my DJI Phantom drone up and tilted the camera so it pointed straight down. I was quickly taken back that I could even do that with a camera several hundred feet in the air and then I was overcome by what I saw because the world below looked so small and compressed. •
A bit later when I wanted to share some of my first drone images on Instagram I remember thinking about the super popular hashtag #fromwhereistand. You know that hashtag people use when pointing their camera down to show off their cool shoes or show an interesting floor?

Well I thought it would be funny to play off of it since I was pointing my camera down as well… just from a really high angle!

So, every time I posted a drone image I used the hashtag #fromwhereidrone. I would get some laughs here and there (proof that some people got the joke) but then several months later I decided to actually click on the tag and I was blown away to discover that there were over 500 drone photos tagged with it as well! This was really cool because at the time it was hard to find anyone with a drone, let alone be inspired by amazing drone content from all around the world. •
That is when I decided to create @fromwhereidrone and then later . I started both of those endeavors to inspire and teach people about the world of drones. What's been so cool is to see that a simple hashtag has allowed me and others to connect with other like-minded drone pilots from around the globe!

So here's to the next 1,000,000 tags! In honor of this big milestone I'll be giving away a drone this week! Stay tuned for an announcement on that tomorrow morning over on @fromwhereidrone !

The book is a collaboration from @generative.hut & @vetroeditions called “Tracing the Line - The Art of Drawing Machines and Pen-plotters”. The book documents the use of pen plotters and drawing machines as an integral part of contemporary generative and digital art production. Each spread will unlock a digital animation that uses augmented reality to bring the artwork to life.

The fam and I got to take a much-needed road trip up Highway 395 to California's Eastern Sierras last month thanks to @Lincoln 's 100 Faces project #Ad! We took the Lincoln Navigator hoping to catch the last glimpses of autumn, but it turned into a wintery snow trip, which the kids absolutely loved!
