BREAKING: Four animal rescuers have been charged with felony grand theft for rescuing Phoebe and Celia, two baby goats who were sick with respiratory infections on a Meyenberg goat dairy that supplies to Whole Foods.
An investigation in the spring of 2025 found that sick goats are denied adequate medical care, often either killed or left to slowly die. Reports to the Kings County District Attorneyâs Office and other local law enforcement had led to no animal welfare enforcement actions.
When former ER Veterinary Technician Carla Cabral found Phoebe and Celia, emaciated and in respiratory distress, she knew they were at risk of ending up in Meyenbergâs ever-growing pile of dead mothers and babies.
Nearly a year later, the Kings County DA has decided to use its resources not to protect the goats still suffering from neglect and cruelty, but to prosecute the compassionate individuals who tried to stop it. The defendants are Carla, Sally, Joe and Taj.
Weâre asking the Kings County District Attorneyâs Office to drop the charges and prosecute the real criminal: Meyenberg. Sign the open letter now at RightToRescue.com
Lifelong animal rescuer Zoe Rosenberg was just sentenced to 90 days in custody for her rescue of four suffering chickens from Perdueâs Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. She is ordered to turn herself in one week from today on December 10th. She is not eligible to even apply for alternative detention for the first 30 days. For giving Poppy, Aster, Ivy, and Azalea their freedom, Zoe has lost hers.
This jail sentence could be life-threatening for Zoe because of her type 1 diabetes and gastroparesis, which require specific medical equipment and care. When Zoe was initially arrested, the jail threatened to take away her insulin pump. Despite this risk to Zoeâs life and the nonviolent nature of her actions, Sonoma County Judge Kenneth Gnoss nevertheless sentenced her to jail. Zoeâs legal team, led by the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project (@AALDP_DU ), filed a formal notice of appeal today to appeal her conviction on several grounds, including that the court denied the necessity defense even though Zoeâs actions were necessary to save Poppy, Aster, Ivy, and Azalea from imminent harm. But appeals take a long time and Zoe needs our help now.
Go to FreeZoe.org right now and ask California Governor @gavinnewsom to pardon Zoe and immediately release her from jail. Rescue is not a crime. #RightToRescue
BREAKING: This Whole Foods goat dairy has a secret and illegal graveyard of dead babies and mothers. When Sarah gave birth to her son Johnny, he struggled to nurse as her udders grew inflamed and painful. She knew that as long as they remained there, he would never be safe. Thankfully, kind people stepped in and carried them to safety.

Itâs incredible how much Chesterâs life has changed in just ten days.
When he first came out of Ridglan Farms, he was tense and terrified. He still gets nervous and overwhelmed, but he has come a long way. He is finally starting to find joy in a world he wasnât allowed to know for the first two years of his life.
The rescue of Chester and around 1,500 others from Ridglan Farms is an important reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together to fight for our animal friends. Join the movement today to advocate for every animal suffering from confinement and exploitation.
@clover.sonoma is trying to deny ties to an abusive calf-raising operation following the release of our investigation, but their story isnât quite adding up.
âIn late February, animal rights activists flew a drone over a calf ranch in the Central Valley and watched as workers kicked and punched the animals.
Footage reviewed by The Times shows a worker pulling a calf by the nose with pliers.
It shows two workers removing the budding horns of a calf with a hot iron. While one held the frightened animalâs head, the other â wearing a sweatshirt with an image of the Virgin Mary â applied the iron to a horn. After a puff of smoke, the calf fell to its side, appearing motionless.â

Chester spent two years in a small, wire cage on Ridglan Farms. Just three days ago, he thought heâd be there forever. Now, heâs with me in California experiencing comfort, safety, and freedom for the first time in his life.
Iâm so happy Chester made it out, but make no mistakeâ we wonât stop until every animal is free.
