Only one week to go until Off Symmetry and Earthly Pleasures’ cosmic bank holiday Sunday party with Cosmo Vitelli at T.O.P.P (Renae) on May 3rd. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Cosmo has been a key figure within the underground dance scene for nearly three decades, developing his signature approach to dance music and earning his reputation as an accomplished DJ and label manager (I’m a Cliché) as well as an esteemed producer and host of the popular NTS show ‘No Weapon is Absolute (alongside DJ Sundae). The first clip is from a music video of one of his productions with Fantastic Twins and the second is from a mix for Automat Radio in Berlin. 👁️👁️👁️
There is a freedom and an edge to the way that Cosmo fuses diverse genres into playful, hypnotic and energetic sets, fusing sleazy house, new beat, acid, techno, wave and weird disco with krautrock and psychedelic elements. The magic lies in the excitement of unexpected juxtapositions and the beauty with which Cosmo whips all this up into a party.🪐🪐🪐
Cosmo’s I’m a Cliché edit series gives an idea of his musical world, featuring artists such as Ivan Smagghe, Manfredas, JD Twitch, Front de Cadeaux, Fantastic Twins, Sacha Mambo, to name just a few. He has also released music on on Virgin, Kitsune music, Les Disques De La Mort and Malka Tuti. 🥚🥚🥚
This is going to be a special night - come and dance out your May bank holiday Sunday with us. Support comes from Off Symmetry and Earthly pleasures residents Ana K Miller, Christos G, Alex Hughes and Direct Function. Tickets on RA.🪼🪼🪼
Under two weeks until Off Symmetry and Earthly Pleasures bring Cosmo Vitelli to Manchester. Get ready for our cosmic bank holiday Sunday party on May 3rd, which will be housed within the beautiful sonic space that is The Other People Place, upstairs at Renae.
Cosmo has been a key figure within the underground dance scene for almost three decades, developing his signature approach to dance music and earning his reputation as an accomplished DJ and label manager as well as an esteemed producer, with countless records, remixes and edits to his name. Here you have a video of ‘A Brand New City’, one of his collaborations with Fantastic Twins. 🪐👁️🪐
There is a freedom and an edge to how Cosmo fuses diverse genres into playful, hypnotic and energetic sets. His selections are leftfield, there’s some sleazy house, new beat, acid, techno, wave, weird disco, with krautrock and psychedelic elements threaded through. What characterises the magic is in the excitement of unexpected juxtaposition and the beauty with which Cosmo whips all this up into a party … cosmic synths alongside growling guitars and heavyweight rhythms – music to get lost in and then suddenly find yourself again, woken up by a perfect curveball.
💎⚡️💎
This spirit translates also into his prolific work as a producer and on his label, I’m a Cliché, which he began in 2004. His I’m a Cliché edit series is consistently impressive in its smudging reworks of classics and forgotten gems. This series gives an idea of his musical world, featuring all the big guns of underground dance (Ivan Smagghe, Manfredas, JD Twitch, Front de Cadeaux, Fantastic Twins, Sacha Mambo, to name just a few). The contributing artists in this series follow a Cosmo kind of approach, fusing dance music with genres that were not traditionally played in the club, transforming psychedelic rock and wave classics into weird dancefloor bangers. His label stands out for its uncompromising approach, simultaneously playing tribute to established artists while also taking risks by exploring music from the margins; Cosmo has a knack for finding talented artists before they break through (Azari & III, Moscoman and Red Axes). 👁️

Cosmo’s first release came about all the way back in 1998, surfing a cultural wave that would become lauded as a golden age of French electronic music. His early output referenced Synth-Pop, Disco and Synthetiqué with a wholly unique perspective, introducing elements of dub, downtempo and post-punk electronica that would go on to define his sound.
In 2004, and after a brief stint at Virgin records, he formed his own independent imprint, I’m a Cliché. Early releases from @simianmobiledisco , Moscoman and @redaxesofficial followed, establishing Cosmo not only as a veteran recording artist but as an A&R with a keen ear and an uncompromising attitude, fusing his early love of Punk and Krautrock with the odd-ball electronics and club-leaning dynamics explored on his own releases.
Alongside DJ Sundae, Cosmo currently curates No Weapon is Absolute, a monthly show on @nts_radio that further explores the murky alleys crossing between left-field electronic and guitar based music, whilst maintaining a string of his own releases including an extensive edit series, Edit Service, and a string of EPs and Albums including 2022’s Medhead and a 2024 collaboration with Truus de Groot.

@_bodyheatmcr appreciation post!
A little known fact about Earthly Pleasures is that we got started after an impromptu b2b at Body Heat all the way back in 2021 when the night was based out of @talleyrandmcr .
They've always had a nose for a good party and we felt very lucky to be included on their lineups a few times after as well. Must have been doing something right 😉
So it's all coming a bit full circe with DJ Barry Gothic ( @deadwreck3000 ) joining us a week on Saturday at @eagleinn where we'll be trying to bottle some of that magic the Body Heat crew have been supplying for the past four years 🪄
