One of the most powerful communication tools I’ve ever learned is surprisingly simple: Repeat back what someone just said to you. Not mechanically. Not like a robot. But genuinely. Because something incredible happens when people feel accurately heard. I’ve literally seen people cry from this. Not because the conversation was dramatic… …but because so many people go through life feeling misunderstood, interrupted, dismissed, or only partially listened to. And when someone finally slows down enough to say: 👉 “So what I hear you saying is…” or 👉 “It sounds like you felt…” …it communicates: * presence * care * safety * understanding Most people are listening while preparing their response. But high-level communicators listen to understand first. And what’s fascinating is: sometimes simply reflecting back what someone said will calm tension faster than giving advice. Because people want to feel: * heard * understood * emotionally received The best communicators don’t just hear words. 💖 Super grateful for the experiences this past month with not one, but two incredible beauty pageant organizations. ✨ This now makes the third organization I’ve had the privilege of working with in the past year, and every single experience has been rooted in women empowerment, confidence, elegance, and sisterhood… values that align so deeply with our Diva branding: Driven, Inspiring, Visionary, Authentic Sisterhood. 💫 I had the honor of serving as a celebrity judge for two pageants and being the emcee for another, and I truly have enjoyed being welcomed into the pageant world. There’s something so inspiring about watching women step into confidence, own the stage, and celebrate both their inner and outer beauty. 👠 👗 👑 And of course… one of my favorite parts is getting glammed up in ✨ @vaida_official ✨ stunning designs. I’ve spent over 20 years studying communication, rapport, influence, leadership, human behavior, and what actually helps people connect deeply and build trust. Honestly, I think it’s one of the reasons I’ve been able to connect people, build relationships, and create opportunities at the level that I have. So I wanted to start a series around it. ✨ And lately, I’ve been reading the book Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg 📕 which has been really inspiring to me, especially with everything happening in the world right now. Wars.Division.Fear.Emotional reactions everywhere. And even in personal relationships, you can feel how heightened people are emotionally right now. I recently had a conversation with a girlfriend where instead of immediately reacting to the emotion in the conversation, I tried to slow down and ask myself: 👉 “What need is underneath what she’s saying?” Because one of the core ideas in the book is this: Behind almost everything we communicate… there’s a human need underneath it. Sometimes people aren’t actually asking for: solutions fixing advice Sometimes they’re needing: reassurance understanding safety connection acknowledgment to feel heard And when people don’t feel heard, they often get louder, colder, more emotional, or more reactive. That changed the way I listen. The best communicators don’t just hear words.They listen beneath them. 🔥 ✨Before reacting today, pause and ask yourself: “What need might this person actually be trying to express?” #CommunicationSkills #EmotionalIntelligence #leadershipskills

There was a study talked about in Atomic Habits where two groups of photography students were graded differently. One group was graded on quantity. The more photos they took, the better their grade. 📸 The other group was graded on producing one perfect photo by the end. And guess what happened? The group focused on quantity ended up producing the BEST quality photos. Why? Because they practiced. They experimented. They failed faster. They found better lighting, better angles, better timing, better instincts. Meanwhile, the group obsessed with creating “the perfect photo” spent more time overthinking than actually shooting. That applies to almost everything in life. Content. Communication. Working out. Relationships. Speaking. Leadership. Most people are waiting to become good before they start. But quality usually comes because you started. Overthinking has a cost. And that cost is experience.
