Last week, at a Jewish community event in London hosted by Magen David Adom UK, Mrs. Herzog brought the voices of victims of sexual violence on October 7 and in captivity to the forefront. At this critical moment, ahead of efforts to bring the Nukhba terrorists to justice, we at The Dinah Project thank you for your public advocacy on behalf of the victims.

הלוואי שביום העצמאות הבא, המילה “עצמאות” תהיה רלוונטית עבור כולם. עצמאות וחופש לא יכולים להתקיים בלי הכרה ובלי צדק. קורבנות האלימות המינית ב-7 באוקטובר ראויים שיישמע קולם ושהאחראים לפשעים נגדם יועמדו לדין, כולל על שימוש באלימות מינית ככלי מלחמה. אנחנו בפרויקט דינה נמשיך לפעול בכל כוחנו על מנת לממש מטרה זו. May the word “independence” truly apply to everyone by next Independence Day. Independence and freedom cannot exist without recognition and justice.
Victims of sexual violence on October 7 deserve to have their voices heard - and those responsible must be brought to justice, including for the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. At the Dinah Project, we will continue to work with full determination to make this a reality.

On Passover, the Festival of Liberty, we are reminded that liberty cannot be whole without recognition, recognition cannot be whole without accountability, and accountability cannot be whole without justice. The Dinah Project will continue working to ensure that the voices of victims of sexual violence on October 7 and in captivity are heard. Passover, a holiday that symbolizes renewal and hope, is an opportunity to express our hope for quieter days and to pray for peace.

(Res.) Adv. Sharon Zagagi-Pinhas, speaks about the project’s relentless work to ensure that the Nukhba terrorists are prosecuted for crimes of sexual violence. The sexual assaults committed on October 7 were not isolated acts. They were part of a systematic pattern of violence, used by Hamas terrorists as a weapon of war. The evidence is clear, and was also set out in A Quest for Justice, the report we submitted to the UN in the summer of 2025. It is time for international law to recognize what criminal law already does: when sexual violence is carried out systematically, responsibility extends beyond the individual perpetrators — and all those responsible must be held to account. Last Friday marked another important milestone in The Dinah Project’s work. Despite the many challenges along the way, one thing remained clear: our mission is stronger than any flight cancellation and stronger than any live broadcast held under fire. From New York, and from bomb shelters in Israel, we brought to this important international stage the voices of victims of sexual violence on October 7 and in captivity. The Director of The Dinah Project, Col. (Res.) Adv. Sharon Zagagi-Pinhas, was unable to join us physically in New York due to the war and ongoing flight cancellations. Even so, she played a central role in the event, joining us live from Israel for an important panel discussion while alerts and sirens were sounding around her.
