EXCUSE ME BUT IS THIS WHAT I LOOK LIKE?
Body dysmorphia is wild, and most days, like so many of us, I truly have no idea what I’m working with.
As a performer in a larger body, in a society obsessed with “skinny” and “smol”, the constant demand that women take up less space can really wear a thicc bitch down.
As welcoming and diverse as cabaret/burlesque/theatre can appear, if you are witnessing inclusivity in those spaces, it is 100% because someone (likely a marginalized individual) worked intentionally to hold that space in that specific way. And it is a constant and often demoralizing battle. Sometimes just to be considered, to be seen as “good enough” to be seen AT ALL.
But today, Im feeling pretty good about having a body, and sharing it with yall. @infatuationtheshow , @janedoeburlesque and @dahliastrack have created the most beautiful tradition, show and family, and each time we gather for InFATuation, we are reborn as we are truly witnessed.
And thankfully, @amandamacchiaphoto is part of that family, and was there to document the magic. Babe- this photo- you’re incredible 🖤🙌🏻

For new friends and followers- Meatsuit Maintenance is a pay-what-you-can, mat based, all levels, all bodies, beginner friendly class.
We improve mobility, strength, balance and flexibility through various techniques including yoga, calisthenics and ballet.
We get sweaty.
