And it’s time to introduce our next artist - @cathalcoughlan . Cathal’s an Irish singer-songwriter, based for most of his career in London having been a member of the groups Microdisney and The Fatima Mansions, with whom he recorded and toured extensively, releasing ten albums’ worth of material in the process.   In more recent years, he has branched out to build a diverse and exciting career not only as solo artist, releasing albums under his own name, but also serial collaborator. Most noticeably he has contributed to musical theatre plus other multi-artist projects, on the European stage. The most recent of these was as a featured vocalist in the ‘Change The World’ Bertolt Brecht re-imagining show presented at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. It was performed to a capacity audience in the presence of the President, Michael D. Higgins and greeted as a stunning success in the Irish media. In addition to his new album Song Of Co-Aklan, 2021 is shaping up to be a busy year, continuing with an international flavour. Work has been completed on a collaborative album with US-based Irish producer and musician Jacknife Lee, for 2021 release, and on Bring Your Own Hammer, a collection of songs specially composed by various artists, inspired by historical archive stories of crime and violence from among the 19th-century worldwide Irish diaspora.   It’s safe to say Cathal’s career speaks for its self with the diverse and ranging work he’s done reflecting his creativity and talent. So it’s time to start introducing some of the artists on Dimple Discs and we’re starting with Nick Haeffner Nick has done a huge amount of work in the past, playing guitar for punk luminaries, been part of the Tea Set which saw him tour with The Stranglers, The Clash and Iggy Pop amongst many others. The breakup of the Tea Set saw him move on to to world music with Mike Adcock’s Accordions Go Crazy appearing on a Psychic TV single. He spent many years as a session guitarists for Bam Caruso records before releasing his solo album, The Great indoors under them Nick’s talents extend far beyond music, as he got himself a PhD, working in academia for 30 years before his reemergence on the music scene in 2019 with the album, A new life awaits you. It received glittering reviews highlighting the “blissful psychedelic energy” in an album “full of wonders from one of the country’s most wonderful secret voices” Nick is currently working on exciting projects such as a re-interpretation of Harry Nilssons soundtrack album, The Point, with fellow Dimple Discs artists, Eileen Gogan and Damien O’Neil, and Ed McGinley and Marcus Holdaway to be released on Dimple Discs in spring of 2021
