As the studio’s first birthday approaches, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude and pride. What started as a dream – to create a safe, vibrant space where creativity could flourish – has turned into something more magical than I could have ever imagined.
I wanted to build a place that felt like the spaces I’ve always crafted for myself to play with makeup – where my imagination could run wild, free from judgement and most of all safe. And now, seeing the studio filled with some of the most incredible artists, it feels like all the hard work, sweat, and even the tough times were worth it.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along this journey. To my Mum and Dad, words cannot truly capture the love and gratitude I have for you both. Your unwavering support and encouragement, especially in times of need, will forever hold a special place in my heart. To my queer fam — Peter, Pim, Glen and Jess — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your belief in me, your understanding and your continuous support without pause has meant more to me than words can express. Without you all, I wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate the significance of this moment.
There have been moments of darkness, but standing here today with a full studio of creatives who inspire me daily, I know that pushing through was the right choice. I’m beyond excited to see where the next year takes us – with more parties, events, exhibitions & endless creativity!
